HomeMy WebLinkAboutMask mandate concernTo whom it may concern,
I understand Rexburg is taking comments on the matter of mask mandates in the city of Rexburg. I reside in Fremont County but most of my shopping and banking is done in Rexburg. I consider
Rexburg to be as much my community as I do Saint Anthony. I would advise the city to consider the constitution before ordering mandates on citizens. Wearing a mask should be a personal
decision. It is a violation on our freedom of choice. If you would like to instead “encourage” this action, that would be a more accepted approach. There is much conflict and debate
on whether wearing masks is even effective. Even the CDC and the World Health Organization have conflicting recommendations and have recently stated that only those who are sick and
symptomatic should wear face masks in public.
Please let the people as individuals decide what is best for their health and safety and do not violate our constitutional rights and freedoms.
I was encouraged by Rexburg’s decision to not cancel the 4th of July celebrations even though all surrounding areas did. It was a strong statement that Rexburg stood as an independent
and thoughtful City who did not fold to social pressures. I hope that this stance continues when determining whether or not to mandate masks on its citizens.
Thank you
