HomeMy WebLinkAboutMask Mandate (7)Dear City Council, It has come to my understanding that you will be talking about whether or not to mandate masks in Rexburg tomorrow. I strongly encourage you to think about the repercussions of creating that mandate in such a conservative community. With most people in rexburg refusing to be told what to do (aka wear masks) this will only turn the community against you rather than with you. We do not want our freedoms to be infringed on. That is one of the main things people in Rexburg believe. I understand that other states and cities have done it, but that doesn’t make it anymore acceptable. Our ancestors immigrated to this land so we could enjoy the freedoms this land boasts. I don’t feel free right now when you are considering this. Especially if this is passed. Another reason this is not a good idea is that wearing masks hasn’t actually considered to work. Many doctors say it’s actually bad because people don’t know how to properly wear them & exchanges germs from hands to the mask & into the mouth or nose. Also, for people, like me, asthma is known to be aggravated when having to wear a mask. I feel like I can’t breathe when I’m wearing one. They have actually proven that asthma has no effect on people with covid but masks do. Lastly, I want to ask you a question. This is a minor inconvenience against my freedom, however, if I don’t stand up for my freedoms, what will be passed next that is a minor inconvenience? I will not let anything that goes against my freedoms pass, it doesn’t matter what it is. And if it does pass, next time I vote, I will make sure to vote for city council members that will protect my freedoms rather than infringe on them. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Kambria Lunt, a citizen of Rexburg, ID
