HomeMy WebLinkAboutMask Ordinance OppositionTo Whom it My Concern:
I am writing this email to let you know of my opposition to the proposed mask ordinance being discussed for Rexburg.
I feel it is unconstitutional to try to force us to wear masks if we don’t choose to.
I understand that COVID is real, but I feel it is a personal choice whether to wear a mask or not. You can be contagious with other sicknesses before you develop symptoms - just like
COVID.
I don’t agree with businesses mandating that I wear a mask to shop at their business, but I do respect their decision as private entities. I know that if I want to shop at their business,
I’ll have to comply by their rules and I accept that. I can then choose to patronize their place of business or choose not to. Having the government mandate me to wear one out of
fear for being fined is going too far though.
I also have small children who aren’t going to keep one on their face, because let’s face it, they are kids. If I don’t want to wear one as an adult, what makes me think my kids want
to wear one?
Once again, please know that myself and my household are against this ordinance. Please don’t mix the government up in this one.
Respectfully,
Kara Kesler & Daniel Kesler
