Design Review Committee Meeting
Great Harvest Bread Co. – 19 East Main – #09 00153
October 1, 2009 – 11:00 am
Attendees
Design Review Committee members: Ted Hill, Thaine Robinson, Winston Dyer
Applicants: Tom Herbert, owner of Great Harvest Bread Co.
Staff: Val Christensen, Natalie Powell, Elaine McFerrin
Val Christensen stated the reason for today’s meeting is that every building located in the downtown area and
going through the building permit process must come before the Design Review Committee.
Tom Herbert said he plans to replace the current striped awning on the front of the building with one that is
a very dark navy blue. Below the awning the color will be dark yellow stucco, the same color as their current
business location on South Center. Above the awning there will be no change – the original brick will remain.
Winston Dyer stated that as this area of the City is the heart of the community, it is important to preserve the
historical look and feel of the buildings.
Tom Herbert felt the colors are classic and subdued, with a rich, established look, to not stand out but to help
preserve the historical feel. The move to this Main Street location will give their business better visibility.
They hope to have tables and chairs out in front of the building during good weather. They want to
contribute to bringing people to the downtown area.
The Design Review Committee found that the design information presented was acceptable.
