As the manufacturer of the Air-Pro 06W/P blower pack, and my personal experience with the National Building code in regards to make up air at a maximum of 400cfm for the last 20 years, I make both a 390 cfm blower pack that meets the requirements straight out of the box, that is normally recommended for electric and induction type cook tops that do not generate extra heat from the gas burners. I also make a number of larger blowers designed for larger more powerful gas cook tops with griddles and grills, etc. The Air-pro 06W/P 660 cfm blower obviously exceeds that threshold straight out of the box. However, the unit can be modified in the field to reduce the cfm output by eliminating the high speed keytop by taking needle nose pliers and breaking the square shaft of the high speed keytop completely off at the base of the shaft, as to eliminate any possible way of accessing the higher speed on the blower. This does not violate the warranty or cause any type of electrical risk to the unit or operator. All of our blower units are both UL and CSA approved as we sell throughout the US and Canada for almost 20 years. Removing the key top does not violate the UL or CSA approval. In fact, I offer a larger 980 cfm blower, that has two separate motors and two separate control switches with a separate dimmer switch for the lights. We use the exact same switch in theses units as the one we use in the 06W/P. Due to the fact that the larger unit has a dimmer switch, my factory use the same method I described above to break off the light switches on both control switches to eliminate the light switch key tops. These units were submitted to both UL and CSA electrical certification using the same procedure with no problems. I would like to point out that the Make up air threshold of 400 cfm is a joke, as I sell to all of the US and Canada I am aware of the issue that states can override and set their own make up air thresholds. Not only that, but it gets better, cities can over override the state, and counties can override the cities. I offer proof of this, as Dade county in Florida the largest county more then a year ago changed their Make up air minimum to 800cfm. I am aware of a number of other areas in North and South Carolina that has increased their minimum to 700 or 750 cfm. I have yet to see any notice that family’s are dying in Dade county due to the 800 cfm threshold. I hope this explains the procedure to reduce the 660cfm blower output to the maximum 320cfm medium speed. Please refer to the specification sheet in the installation manual supplied with the unit. If you would like to discuss this further or have additional questions, feel free to call me on my cell 425-830-8569. I am on the West coast in Seattle, Washington.
