Burns Break Results
All,
Thanks to Burns’ excellent QC program we were fortunate enough to have
cylinders made from the same batch that we tested that had the low
breaks from 8-9-13. Attached is a copy of the break results that I
witnessed today. I am confident that these cylinders are representative
of what was placed in the forms.
Why the low breaks from Forsgren Associates? I can’t pin point the
cause for the low breaks. A couple of theories are: 1) The cylinders
were moved onsite prior to final set causing microfractures in the
concrete. 2) Onsite curing conditions of the cylinders was not optimum.
I am more inclined to believe the latter theory.
No water was added onsite.
