The following is a list of items that will be checked by the City of Rexburg Building Safety Department ⧠ Exterior ⧠ House number clearly displayed ⧠ Entrance/Exit landing area clear from obstructions ⧠ Entrance/Exit landing lighting provided ⧠ GFCI Electrical receptacles outside ⧠ Stairs/Railings ⧠ Handrail must be between 34” and 38” in height ⧠ Required if more than 3 risers on stairs ⧠ Required if deck, patio, etc. height is greater than 30” from ground ⧠ Electrical ⧠ Wiring protected, not exposed ⧠ Covers installed on all boxes ⧠ No cords for permanent wiring (i.e. extension cords) ⧠ Kitchen ⧠ GFCI receptacles on countertops ⧠ Fire extinguisher installed in plain sight (Shall be a 2A-10BC minimum size) ⧠ Fire extinguisher clear from obstructions ⧠ Bathroom ⧠ GFCI receptacles ⧠ Exhaust fan or openable window ⧠ Bedrooms ⧠ Smoke detector installed and functional ⧠ Egress windows ⧠ Hallway/common area (i.e. Family room) ⧠ Smoke detector and Carbon Monoxide detector installed and functional ⧠ Minimum hallway width 36 inches ⧠ Lighted hallway ⧠ Site ⧠ Parking ⧠ Two spaces for owner/manager/agent occupied ⧠ One additional space per rented room ⧠ Screening ⧠ Landscaping ⧠ Lighting
**Please note that additional inspections, permits, or fees may be required if the building does not meet these
requirements after the first inspection or if it has other issues than those listed here.
