HomeMy WebLinkAboutLETTER FROM THE CITY - 19-00156 - 433 Airport Rd - Barney Self Storage Plus - Bldg 7Ctrl" O F REX-BURG Ame,iau F imh Cnnununit} Mr. Barney, As you are aware, in the Design Review Meeting held on January 10, 2017, you were given temporary approval to plant crops to buffer the property from Highway 20 as an alternate to the standard requirements of Rexburg's Development Code. According to the minutes, you requested a couple of years to see if this will work, and it was decided to revisit and evaluate this buffer in the spring of 2019. Up to this time May 1, 2019, the suggested farming has not occurred and therefore cannot be evaluated. We understand you relied on and were working with the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) to raise the grade on the other side of the fence before planting. Despite difficulties with ITD to have that done, the buffer is required and expected as discussed in the meeting because it is tied to permits to develop the property. After our discussion on May 1, 2019 concerning your ability to farm crops in the Highway 20 corridor landscape buffer located on your property at 433 Airport Road, the city has agreed to let you plant agriculture crops along the west side of the storage units next to Hwy 20 for the 2019 season. This area will be reviewed at the end of the year to determine if this type of activity will be allowed to continue. If the crops do not provide the sufficient buffer as required then the standard landscaping as found in The City of Rexburg Development Code Section 3.02.100 Screening Requirements will be enforced for the 2020 growing season. The City of Rexburg will allow you to dress up the property and place needed top soil and plant the crops within the next month as requested for the buffer, however, the City of Rexburg will allow you to do so with the understanding that it will require an evaluation by the Design Review Committee by December 31, 2019 for future approval. If the crop is not planted for evaluation during 2019, the standard buffer required by the Development Code shall be completed by June 1, 2020. Agreed yto by: City of Rexburg I-OAI �i Date 6.J.
