To the owner or' future owner of property located at 318 S. 3rd West, Rexburg, Idaho
The following is a list and explanation of requirements needed to bring this property
into compliance with codes required for a duplex.
1. The basement apartment ceiling needs a layer of 5/8" type X fire code sheet rock to provide
a fire separation from above apartment.
2. One 20 minute door is required on interior stair way.
3. One hour rated walls in interior stair way.
4. Smoke detectors are required in bedrooms and one in hall way just outside bedrooms.
5. The door to the area under the stair needs to be able to open all the way to provide access to
water heaters for servicing.
6. Sheetrock underneath stairs and side walls in same room.
7. Provide handrails on exterior stairway.
8. Provide handrails on interior stairway.
9. Insulate and install finish trims on new egress windows in bedrooms. (2)
10. Install a light protector or a low profile light fixture on light just outside of front door at
bottom of stair well.
11. Plug extra hole in kitchen sink.
12. Provide a type 2A10BC fire extinguisher in each apartment. Mount in a visible location.
