The TYCO CPVC Pipe and Fittings are produced from BLAZEMASTER CPVC compound that is a specially developed thermo- plastic compound composed of post chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) resin and state of the art additives. TYCO CPVC Pipe and Fittings are easier to install than traditional steel pipe systems, and at the same time, provide superior heat resistance and strength as compared to traditional CPVC and PVC piping materials used in the plumbing trade. Various adapt- ers are available to connect CPVC pipe to metallic piping. All female pipe thread adapters have brass inserts for durability. Grooved adapters connect directly to grooved end valves and metallic pipe, with flexible grooved end couplings. NOTICE The CPVC Pipe and Fittings produced with BLAZEMASTER CPVC compound described herein must be installed and maintained in compliance with this document and with the applicable standards of the National Fire Protec- tion Association (NFPA), in addition to the standards of any authorities having jurisdiction. NYC MEA 258-93-E Patents US Patent No. 7,841,418 Other Patents Pending DH56 FP ReccesedDH56 DH56 F2 Recessed Products Description The Model DH56 family of sprinklers are quick response extended coverage sidewall sprinklers for use in light hazard applications. The Model DH56 with SWC cover plate is a concealed sprinkler that uses Reliable’s push on/ thread off sidewall cover. This sprinkler has the cup fac- tory mounted and is shipped with a protective cap that protects the 3mm frangible glass bulb during shipping and post installation finishing operations. The DH56 can be combined in the field with the FP or F2 Escutcheon to make a recessed sprinkler. The SWC cover plate, FP and F2 recessed escutcheons have ½” adjustment. The SWC cover plate is attached with 135-degree solder. In the event of a fire the rising ambient temperature melts the solder and the cover plate is ejected away by springs exposing the 3mm frangible glass bulb. The use of a 3mm bulb allows quick response which enables the sprinkler to apply water to a fire sooner than standard response sprin- klers of the same temperature rating. Application The Model DH56 is a horizontal sidewall sprinkler intended for installation in light hazard occupancies in accordance with NFPA 13. These sprinklers are designed to provide fire pro- tection in long and narrow spaces such as hallways, corri- dors, decks and rooms up to 28 feet (8,5m) wide and 10 feet (3m) long. They are rated for 250 psi (17,2 bar) and can be mounted between 4 and 12 inches (102 and 305mm) down from the ceiling. DH56 Concealed with SWC coverplate 2. Maintenance Model DH56 should be inspected and the sprinkler main- tained in accordance with NFPA 25. Do not clean sprinklers with soap and water, ammonia or any other cleaning fluids. Remove dust by using a soft brush or gentle vacuuming. Re- move any sprinkler/cover assembly, which has been painted (other than factory applied) or damaged in any way. A stock of spare sprinklers should be maintained to allow quick re- placement of damaged or operated sprinklers. Prior to instal- lation, sprinklers should be maintained in their original cartons and packaging until used to minimize the potential for dam- age to sprinklers that would cause improper operation or non- operation. Installation DH56 Recessed, FP Escutcheon To install the DH56 with the FP Escutcheon as a re- cessed sprinkler cut a 2 5/8” diameter hole in the wall as shown in Figure1. Remove temporarily the plastic protec- tive cap, then use the GFR2 wrench to tighten the sprin- kler until secured in the sprinkler fitting. NOTE: The GFR2 wrench has a notch in it to accommodate the deflector top. This wrench can only be inserted one way. Care must be taken not to damage the deflector during tightening. Apply a PTFE based sealant to the sprinkler threads be- fore installing in the fitting. When inserting or removing the wrench from the sprinkler cup, care must be taken to pre- vent damage to the sprinkler. Wrench only on the square boss. DO NOT WRENCH ON ANY OTHER PART OF THE SPRINKLER. It is recommended that the sprinkler be pro- tected during plastering and painting operations by rein- stalling the protective cap P/N 6802710003. Installation is completed by removing the protective cap and inserting the push-on escutcheon. Turn clockwise to adjust the es- cutcheon against the wall. DH56 Recessed, F2 Escutcheon To install the DH56 with the F2 Escutcheon as a re- cessed sprinkler cut a 2 ¼” diameter hole in the wall as shown in Figure 2. Thread the DH80 into the collar hand tight. Apply a PTFE based sealant to the sprinkler threads and install in the fitting. Wrench only on the square boss. NOTE: The GFR2 wrench has a notch in it to accommo- date the deflector top. This wrench can only be inserted one way. When inserting or removing the wrench from the sprinkler cup care must be taken to prevent damage to the sprinkler. DO NOT WRENCH ON ANY OTHER PART OF THE SPRINKLER. It is recommended that the sprinkler be protected during plastering and painting operations by using the protective cap P/N 6999991009. These must be ordered separately. Installation is completed by removing the protective cap and inserting the F2 Escutcheon over the collar. DH56 with SWC Cover Plate Concealed To install the sprinkler, cut a 2 5/8” diameter hole into the wall as shown in Figure1. A PTFE based thread sealant should be applied to the sprinkler threads only. Remove the protective cap (P/N 6802710003) and then position the GFR2 wrench into the sprinkler/cup assembly until the wrench engages the flats of the square boss. Then tighten the sprinkler into the pipe fitting. When inserting or removing the wrench from the sprinkler/cup assembly, care should be taken to prevent damage to the sprin- kler. DO NOT WRENCH ON ANY OTHER PART OF THE SPRINKLER. The protective caps should be reinstalled for protection during plastering and painting. Remove caps only when covers are being installed. The cover assembly is then pushed onto the cup. Cover assemblies provide ½” (13mm) of adjustment. Final adjustment is made by turning the cover clockwise until the skirt flange makes full contact with the wall surface. Cover removal requires turning in the counter- clockwise direction. Concealed cover/cup assemblies are listed only for use with specific sprinklers. The use of any other concealed cover/cup assembly with the Model DH56 Horizontal Side- wall Sprinkler or the use of the concealed cover assembly on any sprinkler with which it is not specifically listed will void all guarantees, warranties, listings and approvals. Note: DH56 and DH56 Recessed Sprinklers have orange bulb protectors to minimize bulb damage during shipping, handling, and installation. REMOVE THIS PROTECTION AT THE TIME THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM IS PLACED IN SERVICE FOR FIRE PROTECTION. Removal of the protec- tors before this time may leave the bulb vulnerable to dam- age. RASCO wrenches are designed to install sprinklers when covers are in place. REMOVE PROTECTORS BY UNDOING THE CLASP BY HAND. DO NOT USE TOOLS TO REMOVE THE PROTECTORS. 3. The Globe Quick Response GL Series Dry Type Pendent Sprinkler utilizes a 3mm frangible glass ampule as the thermosensitive element. This provides sprinkler operation approximately six times faster than ordinary sprinklers. At the ampule's rated temperature, the sprinkler opens releasing the bulb seat, causing the inner tube assembly to move, allowing the spring assembly to pivot alongside the inner tube. At this time, water fl ows through the sprinkler and is distributed by the defl ector in an approved discharge pattern. It can be installed wherever standard spray sprinklers are specifi ed but offers the additional feature of greatly increased safety to life. Quick Response Sprinklers should be used advisedly and under the direction of approving authorities having jurisdiction. The heart of Globe's Model GL Series sprinkler proven actuating assembly is a hermetically sealed frangible glass ampule that contains a precisely measured amount of fl uid. When heat is absorbed, the liquid within the bulb expands increasing the internal pressure. At the prescribed temperature the internal pressure within the ampule exceeds the strength of the glass causing the glass to shatter. This results in water discharge which is distributed in an approved pattern. SLEEVE & SKIRTSURFACE MOUNT CLASSIFICATION AVAILABLE SPRINKLER TEMPERATURES BULB COLOR N.F.P.A. RESIDENTIALAUTOMATIC SPRINKLERSMODELS GL4110 & GL4910PENDENTRECESSED PENDENT DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION The Globe Model GL4110 and GL4910 Residential Sprinklers have a low profile yet durable design which utilize a 3mm fran- gible glass ampule as the thermosensitive element. They feature economy, aesthetics and low flow. The combination of the 3mm frangible glass ampule and spe- cially designed deflector make the Model GL4110 and GL4910 Residential Sprinklers the ultimate in life safety and fire control. These Globe Pendent and Recessed Pendent Residential Sprin- klers have met the strict requirements of Underwriters Laboratories Inc. as described in the UL Standard for Residential Sprinklers for Fire Protection Service, UL 1626, and should be used accordingly. These sprinklers should also be installed in accordance with the appropriate NFPA Standard 13, 13D or 13R and under the direc- tion of the approving authorities having jurisdiction. The heart of Globe's Model GL4110 and GL4910 sprinklers proven actuating assembly is a hermetically sealed frangible glass ampule that contains a precisely measured amount of fluid. When heat is absorbed, the liquid within the bulb expands increasing the internal pressure. At the prescribed temperature the internal pres- sure within the ampule exceeds the strength of the glass causing the glass to shatter. This results in water discharge which is distrib- uted in an approved pattern. The sprinkler and escutcheon are not factory assembled. Assembly is done in the field. Care and Maintenance The following inspection procedure must be performed as indicated, in ad- dition to any specific requirements of the NFPA, and any impairment must be immediately corrected. The owner is responsible for the in- spection, testing, and maintenance of their fire protection system and de- vices in compliance with this docu- ment, as well as with the applicable standards of the National Fire Protec- tion Association (e.g., NFPA 25), in addition to the standards of any authority having jurisdiction. The in- stallingcontractor orproductmanufac- turer should be contacted relative to any questions. It is recommended that automatic sprinkler systems be inspected, tested, and maintained by a qualified Inspection Service in accordance with local requirements and/or national codes. NOTES Noattemptistobemadetorepairany Riser Manifold component in the field. Only the pressure gauge, waterflow alarm switch, or relief valve can be replaced. If any other problems are encountered the entire riser manifold must be replaced. The alarm/flow test procedure will re- sult in operation of the associated alarms. Consequently, notification must be given to the owner and the fire department, central station, or other signal station to which the alarms are connected, and notification must be given to the building occupants. Before closing a fire protection system control valve for inspection or mainte- nance work on the fire protection sys- tem that it controls, permission to shut down the effected fire protection sys- tem must first be obtained from the proper authorities and all personnel who may be affected by this action must be notified. After placing a fire protection system in service, notify the proper authorities and advise thoseresponsibleformoni- toring proprietary and/or central sta- tion alarms. Alarm/Flow Test Procedure Step 1.Place the test & drain Valve in the “test” position. Step 2.Fully open the drain valve. Make certain that drainage water will not cause any damage or injury. Step 3.Verify operation of associated alarms. Step 4.Close the drain valve. Step 5.Place the test & drain Valve in the “drain” position. Step 6.Verify that the residual (flow- ing) pressure indicated by the pres- sure gauge is no less that originally recorded for the system when it was first installed. Step 7.Close the drain valve. Step 8.Verify that the static (not flow- ing) pressure indicated by the pres- sure gauge is no less that originally recorded for the system when it was first installed.
