City Council Meetings on June 6th & 20th. Hazardous Waste Col- lection Dates May 23rd & 24th from 8:00am –4:30 pm at the transfer station. SPRING CLEAN UP ENDS MAY 9TH!!!!! TETON DAM MARATHON JUNE 2ND!! Well, the April showers are definitely bringing the May flowers this year! The flowering bulbs all around the city and those we planted on Center Street, are going gangbusters and will be in full bloom soon, then to be fol- lowed by flower baskets and planters that will be put out shortly. Speaking of planting, we will be celebrating our annual Rexburg Day and Arbor Day celebration on Wednesday May 16th. We are asking for a bunch of volunteers to come plant flowers along with Me, the City Council members, City Staff & our Mayor's Youth Ad- visory Board members. This is a great opportunity for a family or scout service project. Please come help and have a good time. We will give a free commemorative T-shirt to the first 100 volunteers to show up and work. Speaking of service, I am saddened to note the passing of my good Friend and Mentor, former Commissioner Kimber Ricks. Kimber was one of the most service oriented people that I know and will definitely be missed. He was the first one to pull out his wallet and offer up a donation to those he felt had a worthy cause and he faithfully served in our local Kiwanis Club for many years as well as in many other places. He was a very good example to me and I will personally miss him. Kimber was very active in supporting and helping with so many of our local activities and we have many of those coming up in the next few months.
