People have asked me if I’m settling into my new job yet and I reply, “There is no settling in here. It is go, go, go all the time and I love it”!! We have so much to offer here. I had the opportunity to attend the Tabernacle Orchestra’s Russian concert re- cently. What a marvelous and dedicated group of musicians they are! If you haven’t gone to one of their concerts yet, you are missing out. I think people are discovering them…the Taber- nacle was full almost to overflowing and those attendees were richly rewarded with beautiful classical music and education. I also love attending the many events at Madison High School and BYUI. The sporting events, concerts, plays, debate tournaments, etc. are all worthy of time and attention. We have great kids and we adults need to encourage and support them in doing great things. As I write this, our boys’ basketball team is on their way to state and I’m going to go out on a limb and predict a state championship…we’ll see how that goes by the time this comes out! Recently I’ve been to two meetings regarding ideas for recharging the Eastern Snake Plain Aq- uifer. The underground water level has been declining to a point that we need to be concerned and take action to save it. Please be aware of excess water usage and don’t let your taps run if not absolutely needed. We’ll have more water saving tips in a future message. Many farmers, cities and heavy commercial users are banding together to come up with methods to capture more of the escaping surface water and inject it back into the ground. We all need to work to- gether to protect and preserve this marvelous resource that serves us all so well. We are blessed with so many wonderful people and volunteers that work to do great things for our community. Jessica Goudy and her team at Madison Cares did a great job promoting “Start with HELLO” in Rexburg and Heidi Fransen and her team are working hard to organize a great event featuring Tim Ballard, the founder of Operation Underground Railroad. His organi- zation fights human trafficking and sex slavery. I encourage all of us to attend this event and learn what we can to do to help prevent this horrendous crime against humanity. It will be held at the Tabernacle on March 11th at 7 pm. Admission is free. Please come and bring friends and family to support this worthy cause. Thank you all for being such great citizens and helping to create the FRIENDLIEST CITY IN THE WORLD. If you are college-age or older, have some free time during a week day or weekend day, and are look- ing for a rewarding, enriching experience, then volunteer- ing at the Museum may be for you. Museum volunteers bring skills, life-experience, and ener- gy to supporting the Museum's mission and the work of our staff as they donate their time.
