It is a time for concern. We wonder about the future. What changes are coming? Will there be stability in the world? Will there be peace? Will our soldiers be able to return? Will there be higher taxes? Will we have enough money to fill our needs? How much will we pay for gasoline? Oh! There are a multitude of questions! Now is the time to study the issues. Now is the time to really know the candidates. We need to know where they stand, what makes them tick, are they honest? It is our responsibility, and one to not take lightly. We are the electorate; we are ultimately the government. We are the ones who pick and choose our representatives, ether for the legisla- tive bodies or the executive branch. One might say well it doesn’t matter much in Idaho what we think or say. Wrong! It does matter. We live in an age of in- dividual communication never before imagined. We have the ability to reach out and communicate with people all over the United States, and we can do it in a very personal and private manner. We might reach out to that old military buddy or the sorority sister or frat friend. Maybe you have made new friends on Facebook, or other mediums. Renew those friendships. Reach out and make your voices heard. I know of a gentleman who is retired, but he works everyday striving to influence and educate his fellow man. He worries about the future of Liberty as well. What is the cost of all this? Virtually nothing! We can have a positive influence! We can be heard! It is up to us to do all that we can to protect this great nation. -Richard S. Recycling Update Please be patient as we are continually striving to work out the kinks and establish routes with the new recycling pro- gram. More roll out containers have been ordered and will be delivered to the remaining residents as soon they ar- rive. We are eagerly working to make sure everyone is get- ting picked up and are very impressed with the little amount of trash that we are having to sort out of the recy- cling. There are a couple items that are a continual prob- lem, shredded paper and diapers. Please, please, please place these items in your trash container and not in the re- cycling container. All recycling must fit in your container, our drivers are not allowed to get out of their trucks to pick them up. Once again, thank you for your spectacular par- ticipation in the program. Here are some helpful Trick-or-Treating Tips that will keep your family safe this Halloween:  Carry a flashlight with fresh batteries after dark.  Wear identification that's easy to read.  Always trick or treat in groups, accompanied by an adult.  Plan your route ahead of time.  Stay on the sidewalks and out of the streets. Cross only at intersec- tions and designated crosswalks.  Walk. No running.  Don't trample through flower beds and gardens.  Watch out for open flames in jack-o-Lanterns.  Walk with your head up and be aware of your surroundings.  Only visit well lit houses. Don't stop at dark houses.  Don't enter any houses unless you know the people.  Carry a spare Halloween bag -- in case yours breaks or you fill your original one.  Don't approach unfamiliar pets and animals.  Don't cut across yards and stay out of back yards.  Always watch for cars backing up or turning.  Review the "stop, drop and roll" procedure in case your costume catches on fire.  Never accept rides from strangers.  Respect other people and their property.  Be polite and say "thank you."  Don't eat any candy until it's inspected for tampering under bright lights.  Avoid candy that has loose wrappings, is unwrapped, has puncture holes, or is homemade.  Small children should not be allowed hard candy they may choke on. The proposed date for YARD WASTE CLEAN UP is October 15 - November 16. Materials to be picked up must be out at the curb not in the alleys or right next to garbage can. We will try to pick up materials on your scheduled garbage pick up day, but may be a day after. Please bag or bundle materials as much as possible so they may be picked up by hand. If the City has to use heavy equipment to load trees, branches, etc. you will be notified, and may be charged for equipment use. Limbs & branches should be bundled and cut in 4' to 6' lengths. We will not be able to pick up bagged sod. Clean up
