Mayors Message:
April 27, and it’s snowing like crazy. It’s OK, I believe we’ve all become accustomed
to a much easier spring and winter than normal. So much easier that we have monies
left over from unspent snow removal funds that can be used on street repairs. We also
had a welcome surprise when we opened bids for resurfacing part of 2 nd East on the
north side of town. The bid was much lower than expected, and the funds left over
can be used on other street repairs.
Last night, a group of us from the Chamber of Commerce, were out cleaning up on
Main Street. We were all pleasantly surprised at how clean our City is. I have had the
opportunity to be in other cities and have observed that our streets are cleaner, and in
better repair than most others. I am proud of our City employees, and the jobs they
do. They are part of why I like Rexburg.
I have visited with residents in close proximity to our waste water treatment plant,
and heard no complaints of any bad odor. We continue to make improvements at
that facility, hats off to all those who make it possible.
We are currently drilling a well near the base of the upper water tower. Due to the ex-
panded growth of Rexburg, this will help provide water where needed. Thanks to
those neighbors living close to the drill site, they have been amazingly patient through
the process. Thank you for enduring the noise and the mud.
I enjoyed a fine article in the Standard Journal the other day, the one featuring my
friend Roger Harris. He exemplifies what is good about Rexburg. Because of people
like him, the Tabernacle and the Romance Theater survive. Thank you, Roger!
Thanks to all the residents, of Rexburg, who help keep our City clean, neat, friendly,
and safe. Thanks, as well, for caring about others less fortunate.

SPRING YARD WASTE CLEAN UP-The dates are April 9- May 18, 2012. Mate-
rials to be picked up must be out at the curb and not in the alleys or right next to
garbage cans. We will try to pick up materials on your scheduled garbage pick up
day. Please bag or bundle materials as much as possible so that they may be pick up
by hand. If the City has to use heavy equipment to load trees, branches, etc. then
you yard waste, you will be notified and you may be charged for the use of that
equipment. Limbs & branches should be bundled and cut in 4' to 6' lengths.
