Mayors Message:
Memorial Day has Passed
It’s good to live in the United States of America. It’s a beautiful land, a place of
opportunity, a place of hope, a place of freedom. Freedom is the very essence
of this great land. It’s proper and fitting that we honor those fallen in conflicts
that have preserved our freedoms. It‘s fitting and proper that we honor previ-
ous generations who endeavored to make this great land even better.
Tomorrow a friend of mine will be buried. He was a veteran, and someone who
cared about America. I’ll miss him though we haven’t spent much time to-
gether in recent years, as we resided in different parts of the country. What fills
me with a sense of loss is the fact that a very good person is gone. He was a
working stiff, a miner, and a mechanic. He did a lot of different things to make
a living. He was kind. He was a friend to all. He was a person always willing to
listen, and to be a helping hand. He was my friend when I needed one. He un-
derstood life, people, and love. He was valuable. He was Freddie. No, you don’t
know him, but we lose people like my friend all the time. The loss occurs when
we don’t take the time to learn from them, and when we don’t take the time to
know them. Life is short, and we need to glean from and incorporate the good
aspects of everyone into our lives. I think of our city workers, what a great re-
pository of practical knowledge. What great people work for the city. I consider
it an honor to know them, and to work with them. They are an example to me
and make me a better Mayor.

Legacy Air Show - June 16
A not well enough known treasure right here in Rexburg
is the Legacy Flight Museum, on the Rexburg Airport
grounds. The Legacy Flight Museum was opened in
2006 by Warbird Aircraft enthusiasts John Bagley and
Danny Summers. One goal of the museum is to honor
veterans and especially those veterans who flew this Na-
tion’s warbird aircraft into combat in the several wars
this great nation has been involved in. Another major
goal of the museum is to give visitors an opportunity to
see up close some of the machines that have served our
country and provided us with the freedoms we cur-
rently enjoy.
In this stead, the Legacy Flight Museum, with the help
of several local business sponsors, is offering a FREE
air show on the Saturday before Father’s Day, June 16,
9am to 1pm. This will be an outstanding opportunity to
see Warbird aircraft performances and numerous high
performance aircraft providing continuous aerobatic
action. Please see our poster distributed around town
and thank and support our sponsors.
