Community Update
Mayors Message:
The holiday season has come and gone as have some of our
New Year resolutions. As I travel from work to home I am al-
ways pleased when I pass the Taylor home and see their Christ-
mas decorations. They do such a tremendous job. David told
me that it was a labor of love. Surely it is a gift to the people
who pass that way. I was saddened when I saw their display be-
ing taken down one day. It was the signal that the season of love
and giving was coming to an end. Thank You to the Taylors for
adding to the spirit of Christmas.
We should keep that spirit of help and cheer all year round. I
have a good example of how we can do this. The City of Rex-
burg has a program to help people struggling to pay their utility
bills. We can pay just a little extra on our own bill, and have that
extra put in the RUPA account, which is used to help those who
are a little short. We can also make a donation to our Recreation
Department. That money can be used to provide, “scholarships”
to those youngsters who can’t afford to participate in the activi-
ties the City provides. This could apply to Rexburg Rapids as
well. It can be part of our “Labor of Love”. Let us resolve to
make life in Rexburg a little better. It isn’t too late to start an-
other New Year Resolution.
