into the National Ranch Rodeo
in Winnemucca, Nevada, held
this fall. The chance to com-
pete in Nevada motivates and
encourages the participants to
put on their best performances,
and as a spectator, you will be
wowed watching the competi-
tors show off their skills.
Madison county and Rexburg
owe their very existence to the
efforts of those hardy pioneers
who settled and subdued a
hard land. Let us join in three
days of fun and celebration,
honoring this wonderful past.
So gather with us on the streets
of Rexburg for the Heritage
parade and the Mayors’ Rib
and Chili Cook-off; then move
with us to the fairgrounds for
the rodeo, rides, food and
games.
Wow, Au-
gust is busy!
It’s that time
of year in
Rexburg that
we work to
fit as many activities into our
summer as we possibly can,
wanting to relish in the
warmth of the sun as winter
is fast approaching. But even
more, this is the time of year
to take pride in the legacy of
our forefathers and the beau-
tiful Snake River Valley we
call home. Exciting fireworks
will mark many of our cele-
brations this month, and to-
gether with the wonderful
Heritage Parade, we pay trib-
ute this season to our ances-
tors, our pioneer heritage, and
to our veterans of the mili-
tary.
To start off the festivities, we
will host the Heritage Parade in
Rexburg that will kick off the
Madison County Fair and Ranch
Rodeo. This parade will be the
start of our three-day celebra-
tion, reminding us of our agricul-
tural heritage and pioneer begin-
ning. Beginning August 19th and
running through August 21st
there will be several free events
and will be a wonderful way to
spend time with your friends and
families.
New to the celebrations this year
will be the Mayor’s Rib and Chili
Cook-Off. The winners of this
great event will be taking home
bragging rights and wonderful
prizes. The real winners of this
event, however, will be the pub-
lic as they get to sample some of
the best tasting ribs and chili in
South East Idaho. Concluding
the celebrations will be the ro-
deo. This event will allow those
