Well, it is that time of the year where everyone wants your ears and eyes and your
vote as well. We will have voted by the time you receive this letter. The signs
will all be removed and we’ll get our streets back. We will know who the new
Mayor and Council Members will be for 2016. The will of the people will have
been heard. I am pleased thus far with our local campaigns and debates. Con-
gratulations to the candidates. We have seen civility and a sense of fair-play from
all of the candidates. This is good and refreshing.
I will remain your Mayor until the first council meeting of the New Year when
the newly elected will be sworn in. It is funny, I am old and kind of achy, but I
don’t feel too much like a “lame duck”. There are so many things to get done
and finish before my term ends. I want to thank all of our City employees. I re-
spect and am thankful for them. They are dedicated and committed. A special
thanks to our gal at the museum, Jill Spencer, who is retiring. She will be missed.
I am working towards a State of the City report to be forthcoming near the end
of the year. It will be a review of the past year as well as what has been accom-
plished in the past six years of my tenure.
Bids will be reviewed and let for the improvements at our wastewater treatment
plant. I am excited for this event and the remake of this facility.
Thank You All and Happy Thanksgiving! Don’t forget November 11 th is Veter-
an’s Day!
