HomeMy WebLinkAboutNewsletter City_July 2011Mayor’s Message:
Well it is here and everyone seems to love the
new and exciting Rexburg Rapids at Riverside
Park. We could only be happier if we had
both water slides in operation. We tested
them with our water safety people and the
blue one was deemed a little fast even for
adults. It would soon have earned the nick-
name “The Blue Bruiser”, we just could not
take the risk of injuring a child. I must com-
mend the staff at the Rexburg Rapids. We have had no incidences of injury or life
safety issues. Congratulations to you all! A special “hats off” to Bob Yeatman. I can
think of none more dedicated or caring than Bob. He has put in a lot of hours on site
and at home, sleepless as he worried about the pool. Thanks Bob! A special, thanks
must be given to our patrons for their patience waiting in line. We are still a little
slow but are getting much better daily. This is new to nearly all of us and it takes a
while to learn more efficient ways of processing ticket sales. If you so choose you can
drop by City Hall and pre purchase punch passes and then you won’t have to wait in
line. The process of buying diapers and shields has been made much faster. Some
may ask why we have to buy the shield or liner. Let me explain that any accident or
incident involving fecal matter requires us to close the pool down for a period of one
half hour, to a full day if the situation involves diarrhea. Rather unfortunate for the
rest of the pool patrons. It makes me so happy to see so many of our youth so happy
and having so much fun. Swim lesson are going well. There is water fitness time avail-
able in the mornings as well.
Independence Day will be passed by the time you read this. None the less, what a glo-
rious event to remember. It inspires many of us to say whoopee. Whoopee days it is
but let us not forget our freedoms, and the sacrifices made on our behalf by those
who serve still and serve even in peril of losing their lives. All for our Independence
and this beautiful land of freedom. May God bless you all!
