The recreation program is growing and going great. Everyone got a cost of living adjustment (one of the few, if not the only, cities in the state to do so) and our insurance benefits, as well as retirement, are basically the same. We have substantially low- ered the pedestrian acci- dent rate. I think things are pretty darn good! I can not thank you all enough. I can wish you a HAPPY AND PROS- PEROUS NEW YEAR! In a few days we will celebrate another New Year, and the pass- ing of the old. It is a time to re- flect upon the past year’s accomplish- ments. We at the City have made headway on a lot of projects. The waste water treatment system is much ad- vanced. The Rexburg Aquatic Center is pro- gressing nicely. It will be ready in the spring. We have seen changes in personnel with the passing of Terry Greenhalgh, who painted our streets. Chief of Police Lynn Archibald retired, Darwin Beardall will soon retire. These two men have served long and well. Kendra Decker and Natalyn Varela have gone home to raise babies. There are many changes. We will miss them and the good work that they have done. These people are hard to replace in our hearts and at work. I will say that our new Chief of Police, Shane Turman, is doing a great job. We lost Kristy Geisler and we miss her. Scott Johnson is doing a great job as our Eco- nomic Development Di- rector.
