Emergency Escape openings provided per IBC
1030 (R2 & R3 only)
REVISIONS
(Same note as on building 1 review) Window
notes call for device to limit opening such that a
4" sphere may not pass through. Emergency
egress windows are required in all sleeping
rooms. Fire sprinklers have not been an
exception to this requirement since the 2009
IBC. The clear opening width shall be 20"
minimum (opening area of 5.7 sf minimum).

Exterior walls meet the requirements of IBC
Section 705
REVISIONS(Same note as on building 1 review) Opposing
walls of building 1 & 2 to be fire rated on
interior and exterior where less than 10 feet
apart. Only one needs be rated on interior and
exterior where walls are 10 - 20 feet apart.
Other walls only require fire rating for bearing
walls as per construction type V-A.Please
identify exterior wall types for fire rating.

Exterior wall openings meet the requirements of
IBC Section 705.8
(Same note as on building 1 review) Where FSD
is 3 to less than 5 feet, 15% unprotected
opening allowance only applies to building 1
because of the required NFPA 13 system.
Building 2 requires at least 5 feet FSD to allow
up to 10% unprotected openings with a 13R
sprinkler system.

Wall between elevator/equipment room and the
apartment is not identified. It shall be a 2 hour
fire barrier (same as apartment and equipment
separation wall in building 1) .
