BED PIPE IN NATIVE MATERIAL FREE OF ROCKS LARGER THAN 1 INCH IN DIAMETER AS BEDDING. IF ROCKS LARGER THAN 1 INCH ARE PRESENT, USE CRUSHED AGGREGATE OR SAND AS APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER. 3. ALL DISTANCES AND DATA SHALL BE CHECKED BY THE CONTRACTOR PRIOR TO BID. IN CASE OF CONFLICT THE ENGINEER SHALL BE NOTIFIED IMMEDIATELY SO THAT CLARIFICATION MAY BE MADE PRIOR TO THE START OF WORK. 4. ELEVATIONS SHOWN ARE TO FINISHED SURFACE OR PIPE INVERT UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. 5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RETAIN AND PROTECT OR REMOVE AND REPLACE ALL LANDSCAPING, TREES, UTILITIES, DITCHES, CULVERTS, FENCES, MAILBOXES, SIGNS, LIGHTPOLES, HEADGATES, AND ALL OTHER MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS. ANY DAMAGE DONE BY THE CONTRACTOR TO EXISTING STRUCTURES TO REMAIN, SHALL BE REPAIRED AT CONTRACTORS EXPENSE. 6. GENERAL LOCATIONS AND SIZES OF EXISTING UTILITIES ARE SHOWN ON THE PLANS. THEY ARE TO BE USED FOR GENERAL INFORMATION ONLY. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO NOTIFY THE APPROPRIATE UTILITY COMPANIES WHEN CONSTRUCTION MIGHT INTERFERE WITH NORMAL OPERATION OF ANY UTILITIES.
