I observed that there was 8-12" of the concrete exposed which I was able to perform testing on. I began by using the rebar detector to locate the reinforcement. I observed that there was vertical and horizontal reinforcement in general conformance with the project plans. The rebar detector does not verify size or grade of reinforcement. I also performed strength testing with a Schmidt rebound hammer on 2 of the piers. I observed that the average strength of the 2 columns was 4,864 psi.
