Hammond Scott Edwards Architects 1630 SW Morrison St. Suite 210 Portland, Oregon 97205 Dear Jeff, STATE OF IDAHO www.cj.rexburg.jd.us P.O. Box 280 12 North Center Street Rexburg, Idaho 83440 Phone (208) 359-3020 Fax(208)359-3022 e-mail rexburg@ci.rexburg.id.us I have reviewed the drawings for the Rexburg, Idaho Jack in the -Box and have identified the following deficiencies: 1. The structural calculations use exposure `B" for wind design. I disagree with this exposure. The prevailing winds come out of the West slightly from the South. As you can see by the aerial photo that I have attached to the back of this document, there is nothing but open field and river in the direction that the wind travels. The exposure should be "C". Please have your structural engineer make the necessary changes to the structural calculations and the drawings if required. 2. Please provide a Flood Elevation Certificate as required in the 2000 International Building Code (IBC) Section 1612.5. 3. The soil investigation report identifies a layer of fill mixed with garbage covering the building lot. If you will be over excavating and bringing in structural fill, compaction density tests must be performed by a licensed testing firm Let us know who will be performing these tests so that we can coordinate with them. 4. Submit manufacturer's certificate of compliance for all components as per IBC Section 1-621.3.5. 5. Please provide energy calculations as per the 2000 International Energy Conservation Cade. 6. The Fire Department has reviewed the plans. I have attached a copy of the report. These items need to be addressed before issuance of a building permit. Please let me know if you have any questions. I can be reached during the day at 359-3020 Ext. 324. Sincerely, olam//K Val Christensen Building Official C.C.
