They feature economy, aesthetics and low fl ow. The combination of the 3mm frangible glass ampule and spe- cially designed defl ector make the Model GL4110 and GL4910 Residential Sprinklers the ultimate in life safety and fi re control. These Globe Pendent and Recessed Pendent Residential Sprin- klers have met the strict requirements of Underwriters Laboratories Inc. as described in the UL Standard for Residential Sprinklers for Fire Protection Service, UL 1626, and should be used accordingly. These sprinklers should also be installed in accordance with the appropriate NFPA Standard 13, 13D or 13R and under the direc- tion of the approving authorities having jurisdiction. The heart of Globe's Model GL4110 and GL4910 sprinklers proven actuating assembly is a hermetically sealed frangible glass ampule that contains a precisely measured amount of fl uid. When heat is absorbed, the liquid within the bulb expands increasing the internal pressure. At the prescribed temperature the internal pres- sure within the ampule exceeds the strength of the glass causing the glass to shatter. This results in water discharge which is distrib- uted in an approved pattern. The sprinkler and escutcheon are not factory assembled. Assembly is done in the fi eld. NYC MEA 258-93-E Patents US Patent No. 7,841,418 Other Patents Pending Products Description The Model DH56 are quick response extended cover- age sidewall dry sprinklers for use in light hazard applica- tions. The Model DH56 dry sprinkler with SWC cover plate is a concealed sprinkler that uses Reliable’s push on/thread off sidewall cover. This sprinkler has the cup factory mounted and is shipped with a bulb protector that protects the 3mm frangible glass bulb during shipping and post installation fin- ishing operations. The DH56 can be combined in the field with the FP Escutcheon to make a recessed dry sprinkler. DH56 HSW Concealed with SWC coverplate (See Fig. 7) DH56 HSW (See Fig. 4) DH56 HSW FP Recessed (See Fig. 6) DH56 HSW/HB (See Fig. 5) The SWC cover plate and FP recessed escutcheons have ½” adjustment. The SWC cover plate is attached with 135 & 165 degree solder. In the event of a fire the rising ambient temperature melts the solder and the cover plate is ejected away by springs exposing the 3mm frangible glass bulb. The use of a 3mm bulb allows quick response which enables the sprinkler to apply water to a fire sooner than standard response sprinklers of the same temperature rating. Model DH56 dry sprinklers are intended for use in dry and preaction systems to protect areas subjected to freez- ing temperatures and unheated portions inside and outside buildings. See Fig. 1 for guidelines on using dry sprinklers in wet systems.*DuPont Registered Trademark 2. Environments wherein dry sprinklers are employed can be corrosive. For this reason, Model DH56 dry sprinklers have a special wax fillet placed in the gap between the cup that supports the bulb and the wrenching boss. This wax will not interfere with the operation of the sprinkler, and it prevents contaminants from entering the internal portion of the drop nipple. The wax must not be removed. Application The Model DH56 is a horizontal sidewall dry sprinkler intended for installation in light hazard occupancies in ac- cordance with NFPA 13. These sprinklers are designed to provide fire protection in long and narrow spaces such as hallways, corridors, decks and rooms up to 28 feet (8,5m) wide and 10 feet (3m) long. They are rated for 250 psi (17,2 bar) and can be mounted between 4 and 12 inches (102 and 305mm) down from the ceiling. General Installation Instructions Model DH56 dry sprinklers must be installed only in stan- dard (ANSI B 16.3 class 150 and ANSI B 16.4 class 125) pipe tees in the horizontal position, even at branch line ends. They should not be installed into elbows or pipe couplings located on drop nipples to the sprinklers. For these and other fittings including CPVC, the dry sprinkler should be installed into a fitting to allow protrusion into the fitting in ac- cordance with the diagrams. The “A” dimension of the dry sprinkler, which extends into a freezing zone from wet pipe systems, should be selected to provide, as a minimum, the specified lengths in inches shown in Fig. 1. Caution: Do not install Model DH56 HSW Dry sprinklers into CPVC adapter fittings or tees that have an internal obstruction. This will damage the sprinkler and /or the fitting. Refer to Fig. 8 DH56 HSW To install the DH56 HSW dry sprinkler cut a 21/8” diameter hole in the wall as shown in Fig. 4. Use the Model F3 instal- lation wrench (see Fig. 3) on the square boss to tighten the sprinkler until it is secured in the sprinkler fitting1. Apply a Teflon* based sealant to the sprinkler threads before install- ing in the sprinkler. Installation is completed by removing the orange glass bulb-protector and assembling the slip-on escutcheon to the sprinkler’s can. DH56 HSW/HB To install the DH56 HSW/HB dry sprinkler cut a 2½” di- ameter hole in the wall as shown in Fig. 5. Use the Model F3 installation wrench (see Fig. 3) on the square boss to tighten the sprinkler until it is secured in the sprinkler fitting1. Apply a Teflon* based sealant to the sprinkler threads be- fore installing in the sprinkler. Installation is completed by removing the orange glass bulb-protector and assembling the slip-on escutcheon to the sprinkler’s can. DH56 HSW Recessed with FP Escutcheon To install the DH56 HSW dry sprinkler with the FP Escutch- eon as a recessed sprinkler cut a 25/8” diameter hole in the wall as shown in Fig. 6. Temporarily remove the plastic pro- tective cap, and then use the Model XLO2 wrench1 (see Fig. 2) to tighten the sprinkler until it is secured in the sprin- kler fitting. Note: The Model XLO2 wrench has a notch in it to accommodate the deflector top. This wrench can only be inserted one way. Care must be taken not to damage the deflector during tightening. Apply a Teflon* based seal- ant to the sprinkler threads before installing in the sprinkler. It is recommended that the sprinkler be protected during plastering and painting operations by reinstalling the plastic protective cap. Installation is completed by removing the protective cap and inserting the push-on escutcheon. Turn clockwise to adjust the escutcheon against the wall. DH56 HSW Concealed with SWC Cover Plate To install the DH56 HSW dry sprinkler with the SWC cover- plate as a concealed sprinkler, cut a 21/8” diameter hole into the wall as shown in Fig. 7. Temporarily remove the plastic protective cap, and then use the Model XLO2 wrench1 (see Fig. Installation is completed by removing the protective cap and inserting the coverplate. Coverplate as- semblies provide ½” (13mm) of adjustment. Final adjust- ment is made by turning the coverplate clockwise until the skirt flange makes full contact with the wall surface. Cover removal requires turning in the counter-clockwise direction. Concealed coverplate assemblies are listed only for use with specific sprinklers. The use of any other concealed wall sprinkler or the use of the SWC coverplate on any sprinkler with which it is not specifically listed will void all guarantees, warranties, listings and approvals. Note: DH56 and DH56 Recessed Sprinklers have orange bulb protectors to minimize bulb damage during shipping, handling, and installation. REMOVE THIS PROTECTION AT THE TIME THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM IS PLACED IN SER- VICE FOR FIRE PROTECTION. Removal of the protectors before this time may leave the bulb vulnerable to damage. RASCO wrenches are designed to install sprinklers when covers are in place. REMOVE PROTECTORS BY UNDO- ING THE CLASP BY HAND. DO NOT USE TOOLS TO RE- MOVE THE PROTECTORS. *DuPont Registered Trademark 1 Installation Wrenches: Throughout this technical bulletin, Reliable has specified specific installation wrenches for use on each version of our sprinklers. A pipe wrench may also be used to install a dry sprinkler provided that it only interfaces with the steel outer tube of the assembly (Item #8 on fig 10). Keep in mind that a pipe wrench will incorporate a large amount of torque into the final assembly. This torque will have to be matched or exceeded upon the sprinkler’s removal at a later date. Fig. 1 3. 4. Step 3 Step 2 Step 1 Fig. 2 - XLO2 Wrench Fig. 3 - F3 Wrench Maintenance Model DH56 Quick Response Dry Sprinklers should be in- spected and the sprinkler system maintained in accordance with NFPA 25. Do not remove the factory applied thermally sensitive wax fillet between the bulb supporting cup and the wrenching boss. Do not replace this wax with a substitute substance. An alternate substance may interfere with proper operation of the sprinkler. Do not clean sprinklers with soap and water, ammonia or any other cleaning fluids. Remove dust by using a soft brush or gentle vacuuming. Remove any sprinkler which has been painted (other than factory applied) or damaged in any way. A stock of spare sprinklers should be maintained to allow quick replacement of damaged or operated sprinklers. Prior to installation, sprinklers should be maintained in their original cartons and packaging until used to minimize the potential for damage to sprinklers that would cause improper operation or non-operation. Installation Instructions Model F3QR56 Dry sprinklers must only be installed in the following fittings: 1. The side outlet of an ANSI B 16.3 class 150 (malleable or ductile) or ANSI B16.4 class 125 (cast) iron pipe tee 2. The run outlet of an ANSI B 16.3 class 150 (malleable or ductile) or ANSI B16.4 class 125 (cast) iron pipe tee, with the side outlet plugged (wet-pipe systems only) 3. Spears Manufacturing Company Brass Thread In- sert Style or Special Reinforced Plastic Thread Style Listed adapter or tee (wet-pipe systems only) (gasket sealed outlets shall not be used) 4. Any Listed CPVC sprinkler adapter or tee only in ac- cordance with Fig. 11 and upon verification that the CPVC adapter or tee does not interfere with the sprin- kler’s inlet (wet-pipe systems only) (gasket sealed outlets shall not be used) Model F3QR56 Dry sprinklers must not be installed into el- bows, welded outlets, or gasket sealed outlets. Installation of the Model F3QR56 Dry sprinkler is not recommend in cop- per pipe systems, as this may reduce the life expectancy of the sprinkler. In all dry-pipe system installations, the Model F3QR56 Dry sprinkler must be installed with protrusion into the fitting in accordance with Fig. 1 through Fig. 9 in this Bulletin. Do not install Model F3QR56 Dry sprinklers with the standard (long) inlet fitting into CPVC fittings that have an internal obstruc- tion (see Fig. 11); this will damage the sprinkler, the fitting, or both. Model F3QR56 Dry sprinklers are available with a short “PL” inlet fitting for installation on CPVC fittings of wet- pipe sprinkler systems only. Model F3QR56 Dry sprinklers connected to wet-pipe sys- tems must be installed with the Exposed Minimum Barrel Length required by Fig. 10 located in a Heated Area. An orange protective clip is factory installed on the sprin- kler to protect the glass bulb thermal element from dam- age. The clip should remain in place during installation of the sprinkler and be removed when the sprinkler system is placed in service. Sprinklers with 3/4” NPT and ISO7-1R3/4 inlets are supplied with a protective cap on the inlet that must be removed before installation. Use the following steps for installation: 1. Cut a hole in the wall or ceiling directly in-line with the outlet of the fitting. See the Installation Data table for the recommended hole diameter based on the es- cutcheon or cover plate option selected. 2. Apply pipe joint compound or PTFE tape to the male threads of the sprinkler’s inlet fitting. 3. Install the sprinkler in the fitting using the installation wrench specified in the Installation Data table. The Model F3 and F3R wrenches are designed to be in- serted into the groves in the sprinkler’s wrench boss as shown in Fig. 12. The Model XLO2 wrench is de- signed to fit into the cup and engage the wrench boss as shown in Fig. 13. Do NOT wrench any part of the sprinkler assembly other than the wrench boss. When inserting or removing the wrench from the sprinkler, care should be taken to prevent damage to the sprin- kler. The sprinkler is then tightened into the pipe fitting to achieve a leak free connection. The recommended minimum to maximum installation torque is 22 - 30 lb- ft (30 – 40 N-m) for 1” NPT and ISO7-1R1 sprinklers, and 14 - 20 lb-ft (19 – 27 N-m) for 3/4” NPT and ISO7- 1R3/4 sprinklers. 3a. Alternatively, where access to the outer tube of the sprinkler is available, the Model F3QR56 Dry sprinkler may be installed using a pipe wrench. The pipe wrench shall only be permitted to inter- face with the galvanized steel outer tube portion of the sprinkler (Item #8 in Fig. 16). Do NOT wrench any other portion of the sprinkler assembly. A pipe wrench can install the sprinkler into the fitting with a large amount of torque; consideration should be given to the need for future removal of the sprin- kler because the installation torque will have to be matched or exceeded to remove the sprinkler. The recommended minimum to maximum installation torque is 22 - 30 lb-ft (30 – 40 N-m) for 1” NPT and ISO7-1R1 sprinklers, and 14 - 20 lb-ft (19 – 27 N-m) for 3/4” NPT and ISO7-1R3/4 sprinklers. 4. Standard and Model HB escutcheons can be in- stalled by slipping the escutcheon over the can until the escutcheon is seated against the ceiling or wall. Model F1 escutcheons are installed by pressing the escutcheon onto the collar until the escutcheon is seated against the ceiling or wall. The Model FP es- cutcheon is installed by pressing or threading the es- cutcheon into the cup by hand; the escutcheon can be tightened against the ceiling or wall by turning the escutcheon in a clockwise direction and removed by turning the escutcheon in a counter-clockwise direc- tion. To install the Model CCP cover plate, first remove the protective clip. Install the Model CCP cover plate on the sprinkler by pressing or threading the cover plate into the cup by hand; the cover plate can be tightened against the ceiling by turning the cover plate in a clockwise direction and removed by turning the cover plate in a counter-clockwise direction. 5. Remove the orange protective clip when placing the sprinkler system in service. Ordering Information Specify: 1. Maintenance The Model F3QR56 Dry Sprinklers should be inspected and the sprinkler system maintained in accordance with NFPA 25. Do not remove the factory applied thermally sen- sitive wax fillet between the bulb supporting cup and the wrenching boss. Do not replace this wax with a substitute substance. An Alternate substance may interfere with proper operation of the sprinkler. Do not clean sprinklers with soap and water, ammonia or any other cleaning fluids. Remove dust by us- ing a soft brush or gently vacuuming. Replace any sprin- kler which has been painted (other than factory applied) or damaged in any way. A stock of spare sprinklers should be maintained to allow quick replacement of damaged or op- erated sprinklers. Prior to installation, sprinklers should be maintained in the original cartons and packaging until used to minimize the potential for damage to sprinklers that would cause improper operation or non-operation. Upon fire conditions, rising heat causes a sprinkler’s heat-sensitive glass-bulb to shatter, releasing the water- way for water flow onto the deflector, evenly distributing the discharged water to control a fire. F1 Res 44 SWC F1 Res 58 HSWX 2. K=7.6) that will provide lower pressure demands for 0.1 gpm/ft2 densities in NFPA 13 residential applica- tions. Example No. 1 Room Size= 12 ft x 20 ft (3.6 m x 6.1 m) Coverage Area= 12 x 20 = 240 ft2 (22.3 m2) Flow @ 0.10 gpm/ft2 density= 240 x 0.10 = 24 gpm Using an F1 Res 49 Pendent Sprinkler, K=4.9 Pressure= (24/4.9)2 = 24 psi (1.65 bar) The baseline flow for a 20 ft x 20 ft (6.1 m x 6.1 m) cover- age area using the baseline density of 0.05 gpm/ft2 will be 20 gpm @ 16.7 psi (75.7 L/min @ 1.14 bar). There- fore, the minimum flow required is 24 gpm @ 24 psi (90.8 L/min @ 1.65 bar). Example No. 2 Room Size= 8 ft x 20 ft (2.4 m x 6.1 m) Coverage Area= 8 x 20 = 160 ft2 (14.9 m2) Flow @ 0.10 gpm/ft2 density= 160 x 0.10 = 16 gpm Using an F1 Res 49 Pendent Sprinkler, K=4.9 Pressure= (16/4.9)2 = 10.7 psi (0.74 bar) The baseline flow for a 20 ft x 20 ft (6.1 m x 6.1 m) cover- age area using the baseline density of 0.05 gpm/ft2 will be 20 gpm @ 16.7 psi (75.7 L/min @ 1.14 bar). Therefore, the minimum flow required is 20 gpm @ 16.7 psi (75.7 L/min @ 1.14 bar). Example No. 3 Room Size= 10 ft x 16 ft (3.0 m x 4.91 m) Coverage Area= 10 x 16 = 160 ft2 (14.9 m2) Flow @ 0.10 gpm/ft2 density= 160 x 0.10 = 16 gpm Using an F1 Res 76 Pendent Sprinkler, K=7.6 The baseline flow for a 16 ft x 16 ft coverage area is 21 gpm @ 7.6 psi (79.5 L/min @ 0.52 bar). Therefore, the minimum flow and pressure is 21 gpm @ 7.6 psi (79.5 L/min @ 0.52 bar). Example No. 4 Room Size= 14 ft x 18 ft (4.3 m x 5.5 m) Coverage Area= 14 x 18 = 252 ft2 (23.6 m2) Flow @ 0.10 gpm/ft2 density= 252 x 0.10 = 25.2 gpm (94.6 L/min) Using an F1 Res 76 Pendent Sprinkler, K=7.6 Pressure= (252/7.6)2 = 11 psi (0.76 bar) The baseline flow and pressure of an 18 ft x 18 ft cover- age area is 21 gpm @ 7.6 psi (79.5 L/min @ 0.52 bar). Therefore, the minimum flow and pressure is 25.2 gpm @ 11 psi (94.6 L/min @ 0.76 bar). In general residential sprinklers require fl ows and pressures as listed for 0.05 densities to achieve the proper spray pattern so the fl ows and pressures at 0.05 density are the baseline fl ows and pressures. Flows and pressures below the listed 0.05 density shall not be used. Application Model F1 Res Sprinklers are used for Residential Fire Pro- tection according to UL 1626 Standard. Be sure that orifice size, temperature rating, deflector style and sprinkler type are in accordance with the latest published standards of The National Fire Protection Association or the approving authority having jurisdiction. When using F1 Residential Sprinklers for systems designed to NFPA 13D or NFPA 13R, use listed area of coverage and minimum flow and pressure requirements shown in Bulletin 135. For systems designed to NFPA 13, use information in this bulletin. The number of design sprinklers shall be the most hydraulically demanding sprinklers as required by NFPA 13. Flows and pressures can not be below the baseline flows and pressures. NFPA 13 For residential sprinkler systems designed to NFPA 13, a minimum density of 0.1 gpm/ft2 must be provided over the “design area” that includes the four (4) hydraulically most demanding sprinklers for the actual coverage areas being protected by the 4 sprinklers. The minimum required dis- charge from each of the four most hydraulically demanding sprinklers shall be the greater of the following: 1. The flow rates given in the Reliable Residential Sprinkler Technical Bulletins referenced in Table A for NFPA 13D and 13R as a function of temperature rating and maximum allowable coverage area (for actual coverage areas less than or between those indicated in the respective technical bulletin, it is re- quired to use the minimum required flow for the next largest coverage area); or 2. A minimum discharge density of 0.1 gpm/ft2 applied over the “design area” consisting of the four most hy- draulically demanding sprinklers for the actual cov- erage areas being protected by the four sprinklers. The maximum dimension of the actual coverage area cannot be any greater than the maximum coverage area indicated in the technical bulletins referenced in Table A. Design Note: Using the As = S x L method to de- termine the sprinkler protection area of coverage in accordance with NFPA 13, apply the 0.1 gpm/ft2 den- sity to this area to determine the minimum required flow. Compare this flow to the minimum 0.05 gpm/ft2 cULus Listed flow for the appropriate coverage area in the technical bulletin for the specific residential sprinkler. If the flow stated in the technical bulletin is less than the calculated 0.1 gpm/ft2 density flow required, the .1 density flow must then be used in the equation Q=KP, solving for P, to establish the mini- mum required pressure using the sprinkler K-factor. Note: In many cases the listed flow of individual resi- dential sprinklers may exceed the required minimum 0.05 gpm/ft2 density. Reliable has available resi- dential sprinklers with larger K-factors (K=5.8 and 3. Installation Models F1 Res sprinklers are to be installed as shown. Model F1, F2 and FP Escutcheons, illustrated herewith, are the only recessed escutcheons to be used with Mod- el F1 Res sprinklers. Use of any other recessed escutch- eon will void all approvals and warranties. For installing Model F1 Res Pendent sprinklers use only the Model D sprinkler Wrench; for installing Models F1 Res Recessed Pendent, CCP sprinklers use only the Model GFR2 sprin- kler wrench; for installing Model F1 Res recessed HSW sprinklers use only the Model GFR2 Sprinkler wrench. Use of wrenches other than those specified may dam- age these sprinklers. Note: A ‘leak tight” sprinkler joint can be obtained with the following torque: • 3/4” NPT (R3/4) – 14-20 ft-lbs (19 - 27.1 N-m) • ½” NPT (R1/2) – 8-18 ft-lbs (10.8 – 24.4 N-m) Do not tighten sprinklers over maximum recom- mended torque. It may cause leakage or impairment of the sprinklers. Reliable...For Complete Protection General Description The Figure 513 (13) Riser Manifolds described in this technical data sheet provide the necessary waterflow alarm, pressure gauge, alarm test ori- fice, drain, and sight glass equipment in a single assembly for use in NFPA 13 sprinkler systems as follows: NFPA 13* •1-1/2 Inch (DN40) Male Thread x Female Thread •1-1/2thru6Inch(DN40thruDN150) Groove x Groove *Although the Riser Manifold described in this data sheet is intended for NFPA 13 sprinkler systems, it may be used for NFPA 13D or 13R residential sprinkler systems, where a test orifice of 5.6K (80K) is accept- able. The variety of sizes and grooved end connections allow cost effective and easy transition tocheck valves, control valves, and system piping. The Riser Manifoldsmaybeinstalledineitherthe horizontal (flow switch on top) or verti- cal (flow going up) for both single sprinkler rises and floor control in high rises. WARNING The Riser Manifolds described herein must be installed and maintained in compliance with this document, as well as with the applicable standards of the National Fire Protection Asso- ciation, in addition to the standards of any other authorities having jurisdic- tion.Failure to do so may impair the performance of these devices. The owner is responsible for maintain- ing their fire protection system and de- vices in proper operating condition. The installing contractor or sprinkler manufacturer should be contacted with any questions. Technical Data Approvals The Figure 513 (13) Riser Manifolds with a cover tamper switch for the wa- terflow alarm switch are UL Listed, ULC Listed, and FM Approved. The Figure 513 (13) Riser Manifolds without a cover tamper switch for the waterflow alarm switch are UL Listed and FM Approved. Maximum Working Pressure 175 psi (12,1 bar) Test Orifice 5.6K (80K) Assembly The manifold body of the Figure 513 is ductile iron, whereas the manifold body of the Figure 13 is cast iron. The two assemblies are completely inter- changeable in function, application, and end-to-end laying length. Finish Red painted. Installation The Riser Manifolds may be installed in either the horizontal (flow switch on top) or vertical (flow going up). The inlet of the Riser Manifold may be di- rectly connected to a shut-off control valve. NOTES Where applicable pipe thread sealant is to be applied sparingly. Use of a non-hardening pipe thread sealant is recommended. Never remove any piping component nor correct or modify any piping defi- ciencies without first depressurizing and draining the system. Step 1.Install the manifold body with the flow arrow pointing in the down- stream position using threaded con- nections and/or listed mechanical grooved connections, as applicable Step 2.Connect the drain line, and then close the drain valve. Step 3.Refer to Figure 3 for wiring guidance. All wiring must be per- formed in accordance with the Author- ity Having Jurisdiction and/or the Na- tional Electrical Code. Step 4.Refer to Figure 4 for optional relief valve. Step 5.Place the system in service by filling the system with water. When fill- ing the system, partially open the con- trol valve to slowly fill the system.Fill- ing the system slowly will help avoid damaging the waterflow alarm switch. After the system is fully pressurized, completely open the control valve. Step 6.Secure all supply valves open. Care and Maintenance The following inspection procedure must be performed as indicated, in ad- dition to any specific requirements of the NFPA, and any impairment must be immediately corrected. The owner is responsible for the in- spection, testing, and maintenance of their fire protection system and de- vices in compliance with this docu- ment, as well as with the applicable standards of the National Fire Protec- tion Association (e.g., NFPA 25), in addition to the standards of any authority having jurisdiction. The in- stallingcontractor orproductmanufac- turer should be contacted relative to any questions. It is recommended that automatic sprinkler systems be inspected, tested, and maintained by a qualified Inspection Service in accordance with local requirements and/or national codes. NOTES Noattemptistobemadetorepairany Riser Manifold component in the field. Only the pressure gauge, waterflow alarm switch, or relief valve can be replaced. If any other problems are encountered the entire riser manifold must be replaced. The alarm/flow test procedure will re- sult in operation of the associated alarms. Consequently, notification must be given to the owner and the fire department, central station, or other signal station to which the alarms are connected, and notification must be given to the building occupants. Before closing a fire protection system control valve for inspection or mainte- nance work on the fire protection sys- tem that it controls, permission to shut down the effected fire protection sys- tem must first be obtained from the proper authorities and all personnel who may be affected by this action must be notified. After placing a fire protection system in service, notify the proper authorities and advise thoseresponsibleformoni- toring proprietary and/or central sta- tion alarms. Alarm/Flow Test Procedure Step 1.Place the test & drain Valve in the “test” position. Step 2.Fully open the drain valve. Make certain that drainage water will not cause any damage or injury. Step 3.Verify operation of associated alarms. Step 4.Close the drain valve. Step 5.Place the test & drain Valve in the “drain” position. Step 6.Verify that the residual (flow- ing) pressure indicated by the pres- sure gauge is no less that originally recorded for the system when it was first installed. Step 7.Close the drain valve. Step 8.Verify that the static (not flow- ing) pressure indicated by the pres- sure gauge is no less that originally recorded for the system when it was first installed.
