Job Description
Building Maintenance Coordinator
(GRADE 14)
Performs a variety of duties related to planning, organizing and coordinating, daily building and facilities maintenance, construction and renovation in compliance with approved plans
and building codes. Repair and preventative maintenance duties on various City buildings, facilities and fixtures, including electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, masonry, landscape
and related mechanical tasks.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under general supervision of the Public Works Director.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Provides supervision to Contractors, sub-Contractors, and Custodians.
CATEGORY AND FLSA STATUS:
Full-time, regular, Exempt
Essential Functions:
Performs a variety of complex, journey level skilled duties related to the construction, maintenance and repair of city buildings and facilities; performs general maintenance on various
types of building components and apparatus.
Performs preventive maintenance on facility systems and equipment; maintains air conditioning system; boilers, domestic hot water systems, pumps, electrical systems, pneumatic controls,
electrical and electronic controls, etc.; assist in preventive maintenance program development.
Oversee, prepare, maintain and winterize all City water park, and pool facilities. Coordinates and oversee all preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of water park and pool facilities.
Monitors status of buildings and facilities regarding safety standards; makes recommendations related to the replacement or upgrading of facilities to comply with established safety
codes and regulations; Performs related duties as assigned.
Coordinate the building preventive maintenance program and schedules; assists with maintaining work records including schedules, receipts, safety reports and maintenance logs; prepares
regular written status reports as to the condition of the various facilities.
Instructs building maintenance specialists in processes and procedures; reviews performances to assure quality work, and makes recommendations related to job retention and advancement.
Coordinates purchasing of supplies in order to insure needed supplies are purchased in a timely manner.
Attends and participates in professional group meetings, maintains awareness of new trends and developments in the field of facilities maintenance and operation; incorporate new developments
as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
A. Graduation from college with an associate's or a formal apprenticeship in a building technology specialization, i.e., plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, etc., or a related
field; AND/OR five
(5) years of experience in building construction management and maintenance.
2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of general conduction of general construction methods and practices; general architectural engineering principles and practices; legal environment associated with
building operations, i.e., OSHA and ADA; facilities maintenance; HVAC, carpentry, mechanical and electrical engineering; current methods, principles and practices of building construction,
maintenance and repair; equipment and materials used in construction and maintenance operations.
Ability to recommend and implement goals objectives, policies and procedures for providing assigned services and activities; understand, interpret , and apply general and specific administrative
and departmental policies and procedures as well as applicable, federal, state and local policies laws, and regulations; to direct the work of others.
3. Special Qualifications:
Must possess a valid Idaho Driver’s license.
Must be available for 24-hour emergency call-out.
May be required to be certified to supervisor EPA Hazardous Materials Training Program.
Obtain Certified Pool Operator Certification
Work Environment:
Incumbent of the position performs in a variety settings. Maybe in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls, or outdoor work in the construction of various projects.
Tasks require variety of physical activities, and may generally involve muscular strain, related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, and reaching. Lifting requirements frequently
in excess of 100 pounds, and occasionally move up to 50 pounds. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts or in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed
to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment. Essential functions
require talking, hearing and seeing. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity exist. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating
thinking and creative problem solving. Periodic travel required in normal course of job performance.
