ORDINANCE NO. 214
AN ORDINANCE LICENSING AND REGULATING THE KEEPING
FOR USE ANY POOL OR BILLIARD TABLE OR TABLES IN ANY
PUBLIC PLACE IN THIS CITY, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REXBURG, COUNTY OF MADISON, STATE OF IDAHO:
SECTION I: No person shall use or keep for use in any public place in this City, any pool
or billiard table or tables on which games are played without first obtaining a license and paying a tax
therefor, as hereinafter provided.
SECTION II: All applications for licenses contemplated by the preceding section shall be
in writing and shall state the number and kind of tables to be used and the place of keeping the
same. Upon the filing of such application with the City Clerk and payment to said City Clerk the
sum of five hundred dollars, the amount hereby fixed for such quarterly license, and the City
Council having granted such application, quarterly license shall be issued thereon, provided that no
license should be issued for the use or keeping for use more than eight tables in any one place of
business.
SECTION III: No person obtaining a license as provided by the preceding section shall be
permitted to keep open the place where such table or tables are kept for use, or allow any person or
persons to use such table or tables on the first day of the week, commonly called Sunday, or before
the hour of six o clock p.m. or after the hour of ten o clock p.m. on any other day of the week.
SECTION IV: Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall upon
conviction thereof be fined in any sum less than one hundred dollars, or imprisoned not exceeding
fifty days.
SECTION V: This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force on and after the first day
of February 1918.
SECTION VI: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance ate hereby repealed.
