The permit for the Nomaste Salon has been approved, other than the Fire Sprinkler plans;which we will address
with Phoenix Fire Protection. Once all of the contractors have come in and paid and filled out an application, we
will issue the full permit. I will contact you once this is done.
Have a great day!

..^ 1. Deflection limit is U360.
J Z. Anorttble loads have not been modified for wind or earthquake loading.
3. Headers are made from two "boxed" or back-to-back members.
4. Allowable moment, shear and web crippling are based on twice the capacity of a single member. The moment of inertia is based on
twice the value of the single member.
5. Bearing tength for web crippling = 1" minimum.
6. Values are for unpunched members.
7. Members are assumed to be adequately braced to resist bending.
8. Allowable loads are for simply supported headers with uniform bending loads only.

General
Description
The Series LFlt (TY3S96) ResidentialConcealed Pendent Spiinklers aredecorative, fast response, fusible sol-der sprinklers designed for use in resi-dential occupancies such as homes.apartments, dormitories, and hotels.
The cover plate assembly concealsthe sprinkler operating components
above the ceiling. The flat profile of thecover plate provides the optimum aes-thetically appealing sprinkler design. In addition, the concealed design-ofthe Series LFll (TY3596) provides 1/2rnch (12,7 mm) vertical adjustment. This adjustment reduces the accuracyto which the fixed pipe drops to th6sprinklers must be cut to help assurea perfect fit installation.
The Series LFll are to be used in wetpipe residential sprinkler systems forone- and two-family dwellings and mo-bile homes per NFPA 13D; wet pipe
residential sprinkler systems tor ie'si-dential occupancies up to and includ-in-g four stories in height per NFpA13R; or, wet pipe sprinkler systems forthe residential portions of bny occu-pancy per NFPA 13.
Ttr,e Series LFll (TY3S96) has a 4.9(60,5) K-factor that provides the re-quired residential flow rates at reduced

OperaJion
When exposed to heat from a fire. theCover Plate, which is normally sol-dered to the Support Cup at -three
points, falls away to expose the Sprin-kler Assembly. At this point the Dehec-tor supported by the Arms drops downto its operated position. The fusible
link of the Sprinkler Assembly is com-prised of two link halves that are sol-dered together with a thin layer of sol-
der. When the rated temperature is
reached, the solder melts and the twolink halves separate allowing the sprin-
kler to activate and flow water.
Design
Criteria
The Series LFll (TY3596) Residential
Concealed Pendent Sprinklers are UL
and C-UL Listed for installation in ac-
cordance with the following criteria.
NOTEWhen conditions exist that are outsidethe scope of the provided criteria. referto th.e Re_sidential Sprinkler DesignGuide TFP490 for the manufacture'i's
recommendations that may be accept_a.ble to the Authority Having Juriscjic-tion.
System Type. Only wet pipe systemsmay be utilized.
Hydraulic Design. The minimum re-quired sprinkler flow rate for systemsdesigned to NFPA 13D or NFPA 13Rare given in Table A as a function oftemperature rating and the maximumallow_able coverage areas. The sprin-kler flow rate is the minimum reqtiired
discharge from each of the'totalnumber of "design sprinklers" asspecified in NFPA 13D or NFPA 13R.
For systems designed to NFPA 13, the
number of design sprinklers is to bethe four most hydraulically demanding
sprinklers. The minimum required dis-charge from each of the four sprinklersis to be the greater of the following:
o The flow rates given in Table A for
NFPA 13D and 13R as a function of
temperature rating and the maxi-
mum allowable coverage area.
. A minimum discharge of 0.1 gpm/sq.
ft. over the "design area" comprised
of the four most hYdraulicallY de-
manding sprinklers for the actual
coverage areas being protected bythe four sprinklers.
Obstruction To Water Distribution.Locations of sprinklers are to be inaccordance with the obstruction rulesof NFPA 13 for residential sprinklers.
Operational Sensitivity. The sprin-klers are to be installed ielative td theceiling mounting surface as shown inFigure 3.
Sprinkler Spacing. The minimumspacing between sprinklers is g feet(2,a m). The maximum spacing be-tween sprinklers cannot exceed thelength of the coverage area (Ref. Ta-ble A) being hydraulically calculated(e.9., maximum 12 feet for a 12 tt. x12 ft. coverage area, or 2O teettor a 2Oft.x20 ft. coverage area).
Installalion
The Series LFll (TY3596) must be in-
stalled in accordance with the follow-
ing instructions:
NOTES
Damage to the fusible Link Assembly
during installation can be avoided by
handling the sprinkler by the support
cup only (i.e., do not apply pressure to
the fusible link AssemblY).
A leak tight 1/2 inch NPT sprinkler ioint
shoutd be obtained with a torque of 7
to 14 ft.tbs. (9,5 to 19,0 Nm). A maxi-
TFP442 Page 3 of 4
mum of 21 ft.lbs. (28,5 Nm) of torqueis to be used to install sprinktdrs.Higher levels of torque may distort thesprinkler inlet with consequent leak-age or impairment of the sprinkler.
Do not attempt to compensate for in-sufficient adjustment in the CoverPlate/Retainer Assembly by under- orover-tightening the Sprinkler. Read-j.ust the position of the sprinkler fitting
to suit.
Step 1. The sprinkler must only beinstalled in the pendent position- andwith the centerline of the sprinkler per-pendicular to the mounting surface.
Step 2. Remove the Protective Cap.
S_teq 3. With pipe thread sealant ap-plied- to the pipe threads, and usingthe W-Type 18 Wrench shown in Fig-
ure 2, install and tighten the Sprink-ler/Support Cup Assembly into the fit-ting. The W-Type 18 Wrench willaccept a 112 inch ratchet drive.

Step 4. Replace the protective Cao bvpushing it upwards until it bottoms ouiagainst the Support Cup. The protec-
!ive_ Cap helps prevent damage to theDeflector and Guide pins duiing ceil_ing installation and/or during apiplica-tion of the finish coating ot tne idiling. It may also be used to locate the cent6rof the clearance hole by genfly push-ing the ceiling material -agaihdt thecenter point of the Cap.
NOTE
ls lgng as the protective Cap remainsin place, the system is considered tobe "Out Of Service".
Step 5. After the ceiling has been com-pfeted with the 2-112 inch (63 mm)diameter clearance hole and in prepal
ration for installing the Cover plite As-sembly, remove and discard the pro-
tec-tive Cap, and verify that theDeflector moves up and d6wn freely.
lf the_Sprinkler has been damaged andthe Deflector does not move up anddown freely, replace the entire Sprin-kler assembly. Do not attempt to rirod-ify or repair a damaged sprinkler.
Step 6. Screw on the Cover plate As-sembly until its flange comes in con-tact with the ceiling.
Do not continue to screw on the CoverPlate Assembly such that it lifts a ceil-ing panel out of its normal position.
lf the Cover Plate Assembly cannot beengage_d with the Mounting Cup or theCover Plate Assembly cahnot be en-gaged sufficiently to contact the ceil-ing, the.Sprinkler Fitting must be repo-sruoned.

Series TY.B - 5.6 K-factor
Horizontal and verJical sidewall sprinklersStandard Response, SJandard Coverage
General
Description
The Series TY-B, 5.6 K-factor. Hori-
zontal and Vertical Sidewall Sprinklersdescribed in this data sheet are stand-ard response - standard coverage, decorative 5 mm glass bulb type spiaysprinklers designed for use in lightanilordinary hazard, commercial occupan-cies such aq banks, hotels, shoppingmalls, etc. They are designed for in-stallation along a wall or the side of abeam and just beneath a smooth ceil-ing. Sidewall sprinklers are commonlyused. instead of pendent or uprightsprinklers due to aesthetics or buildingconstruction considerations, wherepiping across the ceiling is not desir-able.
The recessed version of the SeriesTY-B Horizontal Sidewall Sprinkler isintended for use in areas with a fin-ished wall. lt uses a two-piece Style 10Recessed Escutcheon. The Rec6ssed
Escutcheon provides 112 inch (,12,7
qm) of recessed adjustment or up to3/4 inch (19,1 mm)of totatadjustment
from the flush sidewall position. Theadjustment provided by the RecessedEscutcheon reduces the accuracy towhich the fixed pipe nipples to-thesprinklers must be cut.
Corrosion resistant coatings, whereapplicable, are utilized to extend thelife of copper alloy sprinklers beyond
that which would otherwise be ob-tained when exposed to corrosive at-mospheres. Although corrosion resis-tant coated sprinklers have passed thestandard corrosion tests of the appli-cable approval agencies, the testin! isnot representative of all possible cbr-rosive atmospheres. Consequenfly, itis recommended that the end usei becon.sulted with respect to the suitabilityof these coatings for any given corro-sive environment. The effects of ambi-ent temperature, concentration ofchemicals, and gas/chemical velocity,
should be considered, as a minimum.along with the corrosive nature of thechemical to which the sprinklers will beexposed.
WARNINGS
The Series TY-B Sprinklers describedherein must be installed and main-tained in compliance with this docu-ment, as well as with the applicabtestandards of the National Fire protec-
tion Association, in addition to thestandards of any other authorities hav-iltg iuqisdiction. Failure to do so mayimpair the pertormance of these d6-vices.
The owner is responsible for maintain-in.g their fire protection system and de-vrces tn proper operating condition. The installing contractor-or sprinklermanufacturer should be contactedwith any questions.

The glass Bulb contains a fluid which
expands when exposed to heat. When
the rated temperature is reached, thefluid expands sufficiently to shatter theglass Bulb, allowing the sprinkler to
activate and water to flow.

NOTES:
Installation
The Series TY-B Sprinklers must beinstalled in accordance with the follow-ing instructions:
NOTESDo not install any bulb type sprinkler ifthe bulb is cracked or there is a loss ofllOtyid from the bulb. With the sprinklerheld horizontally, a smalt air'bubble
should be present. The diameter of theair bubble is approximately 1/16 inch(1,6 mm) for the 1AS.F/S7"C to 3/32inch (2,4 mm) for the 360"F/182"Ctemperature ratings.
A.leak tight 1/2 inch NPT sprinkler joint
should be obtained with a torque'of 7to 14 ftJb-s. 19,5 to 19,0 Nm} A maxi-mum .of 21 ft. tbs. (28,5 Nm) of torquemqy be used to install sprinklers with1/2 NPT connections. Higher levets oftorque may distort the sprinkter inleta1d cause leakage or impairment ofthe sprinkler.
Do not attempt to make-up for insuffi-cient adjustment in the escutcheonplatg.by under- or over-tightening thesprinkler. Readjust the position of thesprinkler fitting to suit.
The Series TY-B Horizontal and Ver-tical Sidewall Sprinklers must be in-stalled in accordance with the follow-ing instructions.
Step 1. Horizontal sidewall sprinklers
are to be installed in the horizontalposition with their centerline of water-way perpendicular to the back wall andparallel to the ceiling. The word ,,TOp',
on the Deflector is to face towards theceiling.
Vertical sidewall sprinklers are to beinstalled in the pendent or upright po-sition with the arrow on the Deflectorpointing away from the wall.

Slep 2. With pipe thread sealant ap-plied to the pipe threads, hand tightenthe sprinkler into the sprinkler fitting.
Step 3. Tighten the sprinkler into the
gplnkler fitting using only the W-Type
6 Sprinkler Wrench (Ref. Figure-4),
except that an 8 or 10 inch adjustableCrescent wrench is to be usedfor waxcoated sprinklers. With reference toFigure 1 or 2, the W-Type 6 SprinklerWrench or the Crescent wrench. asapplicable, is to be applied to thewrench flats.
When installing wax coated sprinklerswith the adjustable Crescent wrench.additional care needs to be exercisedto prevent damage to the wax coatingon the sprinkler wrench flats or frame
arms and, consequently, exposure ofbare metal to the corrosive environ-ment. The jaws of the wrench shouldbe opened sufficiently wide to pass
over the wrench flats without damag-ing the wax coating. Before wrenchtightening the sprinkler, the jaws of thewrench are to be adjusted to just con-tact the sprinkler wrench flats. Afterwrench tightening the sprinkler, loosenthe wrench jaws before removing thewrench.
After installation, the sprinkler wrenchflats and frame arms must be in-spected and the wax coating re-touched (repaired) whenever the coat-ing has been damaged and bare metalis exposed. The wax coating on thewrench flats can be retouched by gen-
tly applying a heated 1/8 inch diametersteel rod to the areas ofwax that havebeen damaged, to smooth it back overareas where bare metal is exposed.
NOTES
Only retouching of the wax coating ap-plied to the wrench flats and fiarie
?rms is permitted, and the retouchingis to be performed only at the time ofthe initial sprinkler installation.
The steel rod should be heated onty tothe point at which it can begin to meltthe wax, and appropriate piecautions
ryed t9 be taken, when handling theheated rod, in order to preveit theinstaller from being burned.
The Series TY-B Recessed Horizon-tal Sidewall Sprinklers must be in-stalled in accordance with the follow-ing instructions.
Step A. Recessed horizontal sidewallsprinklers are to be installed in thehorizontal position with their centerline
of waterway perpendicular to the backwall and parallel to the ceiling. The
word "TOP" on the Deflector is to facetowards the ceiling.
9t.p e. After instailing the Styte 10Mounting Plate over-the sprinkler
threads, hand tighten the sprinkler intothe sprinkler fitting.
Step G. Tighten the sprinkler into the
gprinkler fitting using only the W-Type7 Recessed Sprinkler Wrench (Ref.
Figu19 Q. With reference to Figuie 1,the W-Type 7 Recessed Sprinkler
Wrench is to be applied to the sprinklerwrench flats.
Step D. After the ceiling has been in-stalled or the finish coat has been ap-plied, slide on the Styte 10 Ctosuie
over the Series TY-B Sprinkler andpush the Closure over the MountingPlate until its flange comes in contac.-twith the ceiling.

Care and
MainJenance
The Series TY-B Sprinklers must bemaintained and serviced in accord-ance with the following instructions:
NOTES
Before closing a fire protection systemmain control valve for maintehancework on the fire protection system thatit controls, permission to shut down theaffected fire protection system must beobtained from the profier authoritiesand all personnel who may be affectedby this action must be notified.
The owner must assure that the sprin-klers are not used for hanging oi anyobjects; otherwise, non-opeiation inthe event of a fire or inadvertent opera-tion may result.
Absence of an escutcheon, which isused to cover a clearance hole, maydelay the time to sprinkler operation lna fire situation.
Sprinklers that are found to be leakingor exhibiting visible signs of corrosionmust be replaced.
Automatic sprinklers must never be be

painted, plated, coated or otherwisealtered after leaving the factory. Modi-fled sprinklers must be reflaced.Sprinklers that have been exposed tocorrosive products of combustion. buthave not operated, should be replaced
if they cannot be completely cieanedby wiping the sprinkler with-a cloth orby brushing it with a soft brisfle brush.
Care must be exercised to avoid dam-age to- the sprinklers - before, during, and after installation. Sprinklers dam-aged by dropping, striking, wrenchtwisUslippage, or the like, must be re-placed. Also, replace any sprinklerthathas a cracked bulb or that has lostliquid from its bulb. (Ref. Installation
Section).
Frequent visual inspections are rec-ommended to be initially performed forcorrosion resistant coated sprinklers, after the installation has been com-pleted, to verify the integrity of the cor-rosion resistant coating. Thereafter, annual inspections per NFpA 2bshould suffice; however, instead of in-specting from the floor level, a randomsampling of close-up visual inspec-tions should be made, so as to betterdetermine the exact sprinkler condi-tion and the long term integrity of the
corrosion resistant coating, as it maybe affected by the corrosive condition3present.
The owner is responsible for the in-spection, testing, and maintenance oftheir fire protection system and de-vices in compliance with this docu-ment, as well as with the applicablestandards of the National Fire protec-
tion. Association (e.9., NFpA 25), inaddition to the standards of any otherauthorities having jurisdiction. ihe in-stalling contractor or sprinkler manu-facturer should be contacted relativeto any questions.
It is recommended that automaticsprinkler systems be inspected, tested, and maintained by a qualifiedInspection Service in accordance withlocal requirements and/or nationalcodes.
