HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE NO. 431 SEWER RATES - TYPEDORDINANCE N0. 431 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REXBURG, IDAHO, FIXING RATES AND CHARGES TO BE IMPOSED FOR SEWER SERVICES TO BE RENDERED BY THE MUNICIPAL SEWAGE COLLECTION SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF REXBURG, IDAHO AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Rexburg, Idaho, now owns and operates a municipal water system for the purpose of supplying water to said City and its inhabitants and the inhabitants of the area adjacent thereto and also owns and operates a sewage collection system; and WHEREAS, it is considered by the City Council to be necessary and essential to the health and well being of the inhabitants of said city that said water system and sewage collection system be improved and extended and a sewage treatment plant be acquired; and F;HE°.EAS, in order to pay the cost thereof the city of Rexburg proposes to issue certain Water and Sewer Revenue Bonds which were voted at an election held in the City on July 31, 1962; said Water and Sewer revenue bonds being in the sum of $330,000.00 and WHEREAS, the city desires to assure naretability of said bonds by establishing an adequate schedule of sewer rates and charges, the proceeds of which will be pl.adged to the payment of saidbonds, so that together with the revenue derived from the sole of water, there will be sufficient revenues to pay all costs of maintaining and operating the municipal water system, sewage collection system, and sewage treatment plant, all sums required to pay maturing principal of and insterest on said bonds, to establish and maintain appropriate reserves therefore and to provide a suitable margin of coverage for the foregoing: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Council of the City of Rexburg, Madison County, Idaho, as follows: SECTION 1: That the schedule of rates and charges to be initially imposed for sewer service rendered by the sewage collation system of said city as the same now exists and as it may hereafter be improved and extended shall, commencing January 1, 1963, be as follows: SEWER SERVICE RATE SCHEDULE Sewer servic shall be charged according to the following schedule: CLASSIFICATION Single family dwelling units and churches tulitple family dwelling units including apartments & duplexes MONTHLY RATE $2.00 flat rate $2.00 flat rate first unit & $1.00 each additional unit Commercial, including restaurants, stores, garages, governmental 50% of water bill or $2.00 bldgs, offices, service stations, hotels, trailer courts, whichever is greater motels & commercial buildings with multiple uses. Schools, special uses and other unclassified units or users After consultation with the City Clerk, the Mayor and City Council will set rates proportionate to the service rendered to such units or users. SEWER CONNECTION FEE For a period of six months after the date of this ordinance there shall be no increased sewer connection fee. Thereafter the fee shall be as follows: Size of sewer connection 4 6" s" Connection Fee $100.00 $150.00 $200.00 Any special connections not covered by the above schedules shall have fees set by the Mayor City Council in each individual situation. The foregoing fees are for the privilege of connecting with the City sewer and all work necessary for making proper connection shall be done to the satisfaction of and under the supervision of the City Inspector and shall be paid for by the person desiring such connection, and such person shall pay a permit fee of $1.00 and an inspection fee of $1.50.
