Mountain View Dr. Rexburg, ID 83440 Dear Tony, This letter is a reminder of our discussion of how permit fees are applied to multiple townhome units in one building. Our building department decided if you can save us some costs we can save you some costs. Each permit should cover only one inspection and one re- inspection of each item to be inspected. A single permit on an 8 unit building therefore does not cover multiple mechanical, insulation, drywall, or final inspections. If each unit is going to have these inspections separately then they should be charged separately. The mechanical fees alone for a single permit versus 8 separate units jumps from $450 to $1,080. Additional inspections other than normal on framing, drywall, insulation, etc. are about $50 each. So charging an 8 unit building as a single permit and inspecting it as such saves you a lot on costs. If you want some of the units inspected in smaller groups then you could still save some but not as much. Consider how you are going to arrange inspections from now on for multiple townhouses ( #631 — 645 Trejo is currently charged and paid as one building).
