It houses Young Men and is BYUI approved housing. My husband Charles (now deceased) and I purchased this property on April 22, 1983. This is an older home and at the time of purchase it consisted of a 2- bedroom main -floor residence and a 2- bedroom apartment in the basement. Because we had a basement apartment in our own home and had been successful landlords for many years, we purchased this property for the sole purpose of using it as a rental. At that time, the college enrollment was growing by leaps and bounds and the college was really hurting for housing. We added a garage with storage and laundry facility and a 3- bedroom apartment above the garage. This apartment has a large kitchen, living room, large bathroom and 3 bedrooms which houses 2 young men per room. In all three units combined we can have as many as 15 young men per semester. Because my husband is no longer here to take care of the maintenance of this property, and I find it more and more difficult to do it myself, I am considering selling it. I have been advised that in order to sell it, I need to produce the conditional use permit that we obtained when we purchased and added on to the property in 1983. I am unable to locate a copy of a permit in my husband's papers. I called City Hall to see if they had the original and if I may obtain a copy: I was told that in 1983 such a permit was not needed. Another individual I spoke to said that permits were issued and that since it's older than 7 years a copy would not be available. I assure you that my husband was an honest and upright man who followed the ordinances of the law to the letter and if such a permit were needed, he would have obtained one without haste. We had the permission of the City and during the construction process, different people from the City came down and checked with us to assure that all was going well. My desire is to go forward with the sale of this property: without problems in regards to this permit. It would be a hindrance to any prospective buyer if they desired to use it as a rental and be unable to do so because of the lack of paperwork. I am so grateful to you for helping me get this matter resolved in a timely manner. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me. Sincerely, jo Auj I j Genevieve K. Smith Gv 9 dn 'AR9q
