Box 280 Rexburg, ID 83440 Re: Brett Jensen Construction — Homes on Talon Drive and Auteeetrrt Dear Quinton: I understand from the builder that you have concerns regarding the connection of garage framing to the foundation at the front of the garage for these two homes currently under construction. Garage Framing We agree there is concern for appropriate transfer of lateral forces across the opening of large garages. We have directed the builder to address this by anchoring the framing on each side of the garage door openings to the foundation with a bolted connection, constructing a blocked and diaphragmed (plywood sheathed) member out of the vertical framing on each side of the door opening, and by providing a continuous header across the top of all openings to the corners of the wall. These provisions will provide the appropriate structural systems to properly carry lateral forces across the front of the garage opening. We appreciate you working with us on these concerns and trust the foregoing information will be adequate to resolve them and construction to continue in compliance.
