This analysis shows the estimating program under estimated the size of the signpost and over pressures the soil. The mass footing is adequate for over turning but the reinforcement does not meet requirements for minimum reinforcement ratios. The following modifications to the design are recommended to bring the design into UBC cod requirements. 1.) The post column should be made from one of the alternate member listed in least cost order. 12" diameter standard pipe 10" extra strong pipe TS lOx 8x3/8 2.) The length of the footing should be increased to 9'-61ong yielding a footing 9'-6 long x 6'-0 wide by 3'-6 deep oriented with Long axis perpendicular to the sing face. 3.) The reinforcing steel needs to be #8 bar at 12" each way top and bottom or #6 bar at 7 %2" each way top and bottom. The sign connection to the post is not detailed so I am leaving the detail to sign builders. Should any thing arise that requires my attention please call.
