Re: Respons s to Structural Plans Review for 4-Flex Residential Unit to be built in Rexburg, ID
(Prestwitch Ai items #2002-055)
Dear Dean:
I understand at the 4-plex that we had engineered for you last month is to be built In the
Rexburg arcs . We had completed our initial review assuming the 40-foot x 43-foot 4~Iex
residential str ~ lure was to be built in Idaho Falls. As such, the wind loading increased 60 90
mpg at Expo; ; re C and snow loading increased from 30 psf to 35 psf roof snow. We have
checked and ~ ised our calculations accordingly.
Please refer t ~ the following lists and our responses to the various structural items and plea
change the be I ed items on the plans.
8. PleasE efer to the attached calculations for adjustments to the calwlaiions for snow
loading 1 nd wind loading. Also note that wind continues th control lateral forces despite
the re~ i ion to IBC type seismic loading. The shearwalls need to be revised on the plena
to Typ e A shearwalls to be nailed with 10d nails spaced at 2-inches on oertber. Use
doubly r studs at all panel edges and stagger nails at double studs. Increase t'J~a
holdd~ ~ ns to be HDS or PHDB. All remaining .walls to be Waited with 8d at 4
inches ~ n center.
7. Indica~ a on the foundation plan that the Hoiddowns ar+e to be PHDB or, HD8 at weah
end oi' ach Type A panel, total of 16 locations.
8. StaplE s are not allowed for the shear panels and nailing spaces shown.
9. Truss ~ tails to be supplied by BMC West.
10. Use h• vy variety of washers (PL3/16") at anchor bona per IBC requirements.
