The regular meeting of the city council of the city of Rexburg convened at 7:30 o'clock~~

Liayor Stotirell relo!^ted that the Brovaning I;ator' Company o£ St. Anthony had taken over
business formerly operated by the ''ward Llotor Company and had asked permission to u?stall gas
pumps in front of their place of business: City Attorr~y, C. u1. Foole, advised the council
that Ordinance ;x300 prohibited the in,stall_ation of gas pumps on the curbs on iiad!i Street
uetiaeen the Oregon Short Line Railway and Third East Street. Request ~°ras denied,
Re: Blacksmith
>ayor Stovrell reported that the city ha.d been asked to co0operate ~^rith the county in main-
twining ablacksmith shop in connection vrith the 'r:. I', ~. ;'ork. After discussing the matter

DePaott and mianin?ously passed.
Re: Petition to chanj .iitchl:
Crauncilman Hopkins presented a petition from the citiaens living in blocscs 30, 31 and 32,
asking that the city change the ditch and nalce improvements in same thereby shortening the
ditch. After discussing the matter leiller made motion that the natter ve referred to the
Irrigation Committee to make further investigations and bring in recommendations at neat
meeting. Seconded by Smith and unanimously approved.
Re: Culvert on west First Borth:
Hopkins also reported that Otto Brovm had asked permission to place a culvert across the road
between Center and'rrFirst.:'test Streets. He said 1.1x. Brovrn had agreed to furnish the material
and labor to complete the work. Petersen made motion that same be a~.ovred. Seconded by
De1.4ott and unanimously approved.
Re: City Election
A resolution calling for a city election in and fsrr the city of Rexburg to be held on April 22,
1941, and directing that notices be published in the local papers and posted in the various
precincts; providing for registars and judges of election eras introduced by attorney
G. '',`;. Poole. Councilmen i„filler moved that the sane be adouted. Seconded by Hopkins and u!~!-
animously az,proved. The follovring polling places for election were designated.
