If I am retained I want to thank all of those people who helped me to do so. If I am not retained I want to thank everyone in the city for the enjoyable time that I have had while serving you. I look forward to the next two month or two months and four years. I am especially thankful for a wonderful staff. I could not have done it without them. I want them and the city to keep up the good work no-matter what. The things I worry about most are our infrastructure. We have made great strides in the past few years. We are better than ever in many re- gards. Our financial situation is excellent. Our water works is of excellent quality. Our waste water treatment facility is a model of efficiency. But there are other areas that need help. We do need better roads. We can build them with the proper plan- ning. We are playing catch-up because of the rapid growth and demand for roads to the new High School and to subdivision that were not planned with the thought of their effect on city’s road system. We have gotten over much of the hurdle, and can now concentrate on other areas. We need to have more natural gas capacity; this ad- ministration has made this a priority and with the help of local leaders we are moving closer to achieving that goal. We need to forge ahead with the procurement of a broadband fiber optic backbone (which will bring high speed internet access to Rex- burg) so that we can attract good paying high quality jobs that will bring paydays to this city. We cannot expect to attract retail stores and services unless we have good paychecks in town. BYU-Idaho will continue to grow and we need to take the steps now to stay ahead. We will need more culinary water. We will need more parks and recreational opportunities. We will need to expand our waste water treatment facility. We need to continue to keep pace. I am committed to do so for the next two months or the next four years. Thank you, I love you all! Your Mayor Richard S. We would also like to express congratulations to the winners of the two gift cards—Irene Eckersell and Abby Thurman. The information that was gathered will help us understand better the areas that we need to focus on. It will also help us to know what residents and students want and need to come to the city as we continue to grow together here in America’s Family Community.
